  • 01/03/2011 Fishing Report by Rich Ward on Shy-Torque III (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

1 Mar 2011 by Rich Ward

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

The weather today here at Whitby was superb as I'm sure it was in a lot of other angling ports around the country. We had a mixed group on today from as far afield as Southport. We made our way to the ground on the 9 mile to start with very poor results! Then, on and out to the wrecks on the 20 mile stream, again with fairly poor results considering there had been nobody out there for about 3 weeks! Oh well only one thing for it then. Another charge out to the "Wall" and fingers crossed all the way there. Good call !! Arriving there at around 9.30a.m and fishing through to around 2.45pm all the lads amassed a good amount of both cod and ling. Squid taking the better fish but the shads also catching well. Best cod of 10lb falling to Paul Pantellerisco from Southport ( pictured ) and best ling of around 10lb also going to Paul. A very fun filled day with both excellent fishing, excellent humour and excellent weather. Cheers lads and see you all again very soon. Rich.

    Report on-board Razorbill 3

Well it seems that the fish have returned after our lean spell, Most boats are getting some good catches of CODLING and THORNBACKS. Aboard " RAZORBILL 2" STEVE Cannon from West Mersea landed a THORNBACK RAY of 17lb 8ozs the party also had some other THORNBACKS, CODLING and some WHITING, AS the weather gets better we will see more THORNBACKS and the CODLING fishing should improve.

  • 25/02/2011 Fishing Report by Pete Rose on Sea Urchin IIl (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

25 Feb 2011 by Pete Rose

    Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl

The weather forecast has been irritating of late I cancelled today because of the strong wind forecast in place from a northerly direction and we could have got out after all drat,

However we did get out yesterday (Friday) again a strong wind was forecast but south westerly in direction and our only real option was up tiding not ideal as the tides were perfect for wrecking double drat.

Still the group I had on board had travelled all the way from Dagenham and the sea was flat under the cliffs so we had to give it a go

I called in at Whitby angling supplies to stock up on bait and we departed at 8am the only place to go whare there would be any tide and shelter was robin hoods bay north cheek and to be honest I did not expect much fish with recent poor reports from the long liners and netters angling was going to be hard.

And to be honest it was slow but fish did come aboard in dribs and drabs a good few fell to worm (wish I had bought more in the morning) and squid cocktails.

The best fish was around 8lb another six or so were around 6lb, another six around 5lb and the rest about ten coming in around 3lb in total around 25 fish in around 6 hours fishing.

not bad realy but would have preferred to get on the wrecks but at least we got out
