NEW FOR 2011
As an extra bit of fun this season every angler who fishes on the sea urchin II between the 1st April-31st December 2011 will automatically be entered into our
HEAVIEST FISH OF THE MONTH COMPETITION
to which each months winner will receive a free 10 hour boat trip worth £45 plus a Sea urchin fish of the month T shirt to commemorate there win, plus each months winner will have there name in lights on the front page of the sea urchin web site in a week of glory,
enter as many times as you want, each booking will give you another chance the more you fish the more chance you have, a leader board will be on view each and every day in the wheel house window so you can see the previous months winners and see the present months leader
Open throughout all the festivals
the rules are simple…..
All possible contenders will be weighed and photographed with there captors as soon as they come aboard whole and un-gutted, winners will be posted on the front page of the sea urchin web site
all and any species count,
anglers must reel the fish up themselves but may be assisted in netting or gaffing,
foul hookings will stand,
adults ladies and juniors all count as same,
In any disputes the skippers decision will count,
non transferable prize winners only,

The start of 2011 has been a bit of a roller coaster plenty of fish on some tides and a little bit slower on others.
On the whole the winter fishing on the mersey over the winter has been very good with any amount of Thornback Rays ,Coddling,Whiting,Dabs,

A break in the weather today at last ( or so we thought ! ) A mixed group of lads again on the Shy - Torque today aiming to try and gather some nice winter cod had to work their socks off to achieve success ! A fresh N Westerly hindered us somewhat and limited us to the 9 mile ground, however towards slack water and into the change of tide we saw a good few cod come to the shad. Best fish being that of Ian Pilkington from Accrington at just over 7lbs ( pictured )

Well Folks,
we have officially had the coldest December since records began and today it's mid- January and Thirtteen degrees , Bizzarre !
Hopefully normal service will resume shortly.
The huge Cods that we were getting have slowed down and now it's mainly the mighty Dabs and whiting that are keeping us occupied.
Hopefully over the next couple of weeks we'll get the weather to be able to gett well offshore for some lunker Pollock, who knows, I'm not gonna try guessing the weather !

WE LEFT SALCOMBE AT 8AM AND WERE FISHING BY 8.45AM. THE FISHING WAS A BIT SLOW FOR THE FIRST HOUR,WE WERE WAITING FOR THE FLOOD TIDE TOSTART RUNNING. WHEN IT DID THE FISHING REARLY PICKED UP, WE WERE CATCHING 3 OR 4 POLLACK A DRIFT UP TO 15LB WITH MOST OF THEM IN THE 10-12LB BRACKET. THIS CONTINUED FOR THE NEXT 3 HOURS UNTIL THE TIDE DROPPED OF. WE WAITED FOR THE EBB TO COME BUT IT WAS WIND AGAINST TIDE AND THE DRIFT WAS TO SLOW AND THE FISH WEREN'T PLAYING THE GAME. WE SHOT OF TO ANOTHER COUPLE OF WRECKS WHERE WE PICKED UP A FEW SMALL COD AND A HADDOCK, BUT THE FISH DIDN'T SHOW. WE WERE BACK IN SALCOMBE BY 4.30, BEER BY 5PM!!!!! View Boats Page

With a break in the weather we pushed offshore to set of banks which has been known to throw up a few surprises! After half a dozen good size congers Richard shouted that he had hooked something different. After several crashing dives a plump 14 1/2 lb pollock was safely netted.
Not to be outdone yours truely hooked into a cracking Blonde which tipped the scales at just over 20lbs.

headed out to a mark approx 4 miles out to catch the last 3hours of the flood, fishing was hard until the tide slackened then paul had a good bite which resulted in an 11lb cod. once the tide finished we steamed in to another mark 2 miles off the ebb had started and the fish started coming mainly whiting then dean had a 3lb cod as the tide increased the fish went so we called it a day

Our last trip of 2010 proved to be a cracker with a mixed group of lads from as far afield as Southport. A near perfect forecast on the 28th December enabled us to wizz out to the wrecks on the 20 mile where we found plenty of lovely cod to 13lb and ling to a similar size. Pictured are Guy wrightson from Pontefract and "BIG" Sam Anderson from Beverley.
