Great trip today with Mr Turner of Cooper Supplies and his friends / family. Mr Turner was one of the lucky winners of an inshore fishing trip raffled a few weeks ago.

Between four of them they had over 30 fish, over 20 of which were codling with the biggest weighing in at 12lb 8oz for Mr Turner, a new personal best! :-)

Super day out with great company and a special thanks to poor Nathan who felt the effects of the sea but did a great job at chumming.

    Report on-board Mistress

I had a party of novices booked today, with only a couple of them having fished before. seeing as we did so well yesterday, I headed back to the same mark. It was a bit lumpy on the way out with a fairly large, long, rolling ground swell, and it was forecast to grow through the day. Well we settled in at anchor again and caught the last of the ebb tide. It was the same as yesterday, we were straight into bites and fish! everybody was catching! the conditions were no where near as nice though, we had rain and it was a bit colder too. One of the lads Tom, who had fished before soon started showing the rest of the party how to go on, he managed a couple of double shots of cod on the same line! there is a huge amount of fish showing on the uptiding grounds this year.
the tide eased and I thought the bites would dry up with it, but the lads & lasses kept a steady stream of fish coming over the gunnels. as the tide began flooding I repositioned the boat and we got a fast flurry of better fish, within around ten minutes we had a further 6 or 7 fish aboard. The crew finally had had enough with the poor conditions and were wet through from the rain and decided on an early finish. Again we had a great day out with plenty of fish.

    Report on-board Goldilocks

    A day out on Goldilocks,

I know ive used the phrase before, but the alarm clock really did go off at "silly O'clock"

0230 am to be precise, a quick brew and a slice of toast and off i set to meet placcy at the marina.

the banter started early this morning and our skipper for the day Gwynie Andrews had Steve Quin along as crew,

top angler and all round great geezer...

the outer lock gates opened and we were off,

we spent some time up by the clock tower and i managed a coddie while it was still dark.

plenty more smaller cod, and whiting came in.

we moved up to perch rock, it was a bit lumpy and no sign of rays..

Gwynie suggested me move up river to near mariners and as if by magic the cod showed.

a cracking day out with great company, i felt like a complete noddy fishing with two boat internationals..
but on the plus side i picked up some stunning tips and advise.....

    thanks lads...

    Report on-board Mistress

I had a maintenance day today with my mate Keith. after the job was finished with the weather as nice as it was, i decided on a run off uptiding for a few hours. well, what a day, we fished for about 3 and half hours. as soon as the anchor was dropped and bait cast the bites came thick and fast. it was non stop action the whole time we were out. in the short time we managed over 20 codlings, there were a few chuck backs and the biggest took the scales round to 13lb. we used squid, mussel, black lug worm, the most productive was squid and mussel cocktail. the winter sport this year has been amazing so far, i think we will be seeing some big fish caught this year on the uptiding festival.

    Report on-board Last Laugh

Great day out not seen cod of this calibre for over 20 years at Lymington. We had 4 over 20lb with the best at 28lb. It appears Lymington is back to it's best and this could be the year for many big cod.
We also had plenty of Dogs/Whiting/Pouting/Conger.
So get yourself booked out on Last Laugh before Xmas, great skipper, lots of tea and I believe a few spaces still avaliable.
See catch gallery on the website for some of the pictures..

Report on-board Atlantic Diver / Atlantic Explorer

Fish, fish and more fish...made for exciting days and happy anglers this year aboard Atlantic Diver and our latest acquesition the Bounty . 8-9lb codling were coming in plentiful supply all summer. Tope in all sizes up to 35lb were a regular catch during late season and left fishermen taking back tales to the pub ( not literally) of their exciting haul as well as leaving smiles on the faces of skippers Chris Lowe and Aaron Trebillcock. (All sharks were returned to the sea as per the SSACN Tope Code of Best Practise). 12lb pollack, conger eel, 15lb ling, wrasse , john dory, red, grey and striped gurnard, black bream, garfish, smooth hound and of course copious amounts of good sized mackerel fit for the bar-b-que. A visit from TV chef Valentine Warner to eat what we caught proved very fruitful and sitting back in the breath takingly beautiful Newquay Bay whist the spoils of the day were cooked for us on board proved to be one of the most enjoyable days work we,ve had. An appearance by a pod of playful bottlenose dolphins jumping in our bow waves rounded the day off to perfection!!!!! Thanks Aaron for the tip off.
Regular customer John Crisp booked a months fishing on and off with family and friends late season and caught more in a days fishing with Atlantic Diver than all season at home in South Hampton....Happy Days!! He spent the rest of his Cornish adventure tasting the delights of Falmouth Oysters and pints of Skinners Penny-Come-Quick real ale at the Falmouth Oyster Festival. as well as sampling the delights of Newquay.
The season continues throughout the winter for those interested as we start up the smoker......hmmmm yummy.
( Val's TV programme will show some time in the spring 2011)
