    Report on-board Size Matters

The fishing this week has been extremely good and extremely bad.

On one of the days we managed to catch 32 Skate to 208lb! With 2 over 200lb, 13 over 100lb, total weight was 3219lb with an average weight of over 100lb!!!

On that day we had our first quadruple skate hook up and three triple skate hook ups, it could possibly be the most Common Skate caught in one day ever!!!

Louis Cooper from Kent had the biggest Skate of 208lb, followed by Nigel Mclouchlin from Reading with a Skate of 205lb, this was Nigel’s first ever Skate!

Then when the weather has not been in our favour we have had to fish sheltered marks catching only one to four Skate per trip.

On another day the weather was much better so we went back to our honey hole and we managed 19 Skate to 202lb, 1 over 200lb and 9 over 100lb.

The biggest Skate went to Dan Dixson from Manchester with a 202lb Skate that was his first ever Skate.

At the moment putting the miles in and finding new marks is paying off big time.

As we move into May we will start to target the off shore wrecks, reefs, banks and deep holes.

There are some very keen lads booked on with us who are hoping to get good weather, so they can get the chance to target even bigger things than Skate.

This takes our total to 351 Skate for the season so far with 39 over the magic 200lb mark!

We have still managed to have no blank days but sadly after catching 300 Skate we had four lads who never managed to catch Skate on the days they where fishing with us.

Sadly we are fully booked but if you want to get in on the action give Buoy Alba Charters a call on 07854 888293 and Davie will put you on the Skate.

    Report on-board Flamer IV

Some lovely weather gave me the chance to do some Wreck trips were we saw Catches of Pollack, Cod, Bass and Ling caught on mainly Pink Red Gills and Rhubarb and Custard Sidewinders.

It was nice to see Cod being caught on the Wrecks which is encouraging for me and the anglers.

    Report on-board Alexia

The weather of late hasn't been kind with South easterly and easterly winds preventing us from getting to sea. Our last trip out in the spring festival was Sunday 21st and saw us take 1st place in the daily prizes winning Colin £50 with a 4.8lb codling. Sadly nothing big enough to get on the overall placings but considering the conditions we managed to boat a few codlings.

  • 22/04/2019 Fishing Report by Rich Cope on Mistress (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

22 Apr 2019 by Rich Cope

    Report on-board Mistress

It looks like the weather has turned for a few days here at whitby now, we managed a day out bank holiday Monday, which turned out to be a very productive day for us.

We're still uptiding as the water is still very coloured inshore, we took a steady picking of fish each time we stopped with squid and lug doing the damage,

Nothing huge boated with most fish 2-3lb but the lads were kept busy with a number of anglers managing around 10 fish apiece.

We're taking bookings through the summer with plenty of good tides available, looking through the diary though most Saturdays are booked now until August.

If you fancy a trip with me give me a call or text on 07977 436903,

    Tight lines Rich

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Flat calm seas today made a lovely change with wall to wall sunshine, last of the spring tide so water a bit on the strong side decided to fish inshore. Picture today of Peters roker of just under 6lb best one today, was accompanied with the usual whiting and spotty dogs making up the sport. Bit foggy today to try the bass grounds as in the shipping lanes so that was a non starter saftey first, hoping to have a look this thursday 25th still got a few places keeping an eye on the weather as not brilliant from the south east. Big thanks to all for Sundays trip much appreciated, wasnt the busiest but steady most of the day and the weather was perfect! Many thanks Jon. High Flyer 2
