had 3 trips after the smoothounds last week little early which is nice to see with 20plus fish every trip mainly small mediums but few 8 to 10lbers in the mix, thers still a chance of spurdog on the small tides and hopefully this weekend we will try if we can find some settled weather looking easterly for a few days yet so inshore it may have to be but still good fishing ,
keep you informed . tight lines Chris. -

DEVON HOLIDAY FISHING REPORT
View Boats Page
The lads from the South East have had a couple of decent days fishing aboard OUR JOE-L on this weeks Devon Sea Fishing Holiday hosted by us. The first 2 days have been very productive and fun!
Monday morning the tackle was aboard in no time and with full bellies from Sandra’s Breakfast at Parkholm Hotel. We headed out for a bit more bait on the feathers but the east wind had produced visibility that relates to pea soup! So we stuck to what the lads brought down with them.
I tried an old flood tide mark for Rays but the high pressure had slowed the tide sooner than expected so soon shifted.
Slack water over the skerries we had some nice but smallish plaice that went over 1lb.
When the Ebb kicked in we anchored a new little mark I’ve been wanting to try for a little while, with a couple of alterations after dropping the anchor we was on! Blonde, blonde, blonde biggest went over 19lb not quite making the 20lb for Kevin.
The Fisherman’s famous saying of ‘the one that got away’ was brought back for the afternoon as Malcolm Wright #Shimano Tyrnos 20 reel loaded with braid started to scream! (FISH ON!) All eyes widened knowing it was a big big blonde on the other end! Rod in hand and just as the thought turned to the drag and the fight for him the braid snapped! And with a big disappointing sigh from all 4 anglers, that was the end of that.
The ray marks round here have often produced Blonde Ray over 28lb and into the 30’s in the recent past! That would have secured the specimen prize for Malcolm’s club of Colchester Sea Anglers for a long time he tells me!
Today was Mid Channel Tuesday and with reports of the wrecks being slow at best at the moment we didn’t know what to expect. I targeted a couple of wrecks that should have been left alone for a while. All 3 wrecks produced pollock all day long. Not every drift but most drifts fish coming aboard. Getting bigger as the day went on with the biggest couple making it into double figures but most were 6-8lb.
Couple of nice Whiting and a Tub Gurnard to add to the day.
Over all happy faces aboard and the lads are all enjoying there fishing holiday with us here in Paignton, South Devon.
Tomorrow is another day and makes half way for the Fishing Holiday. Forecast could look better for the rest of the week but we will see!

Report on-board Size Matters
We are delighted to announce we have caught the first ever Blue Skate in Scottish waters on rod and line all 22lb if it (43 inch x 30 inch).
View Boats Page
The lucky angler was Bert Willams from the Wirral Merseyside.
This now puts Size Matters on all three species of giant Skate in Scottish/UK waters, SMASHED IT!!!
We have had some very good weather over the last week and on some of the days we ventured over 30 miles out side the Marine Protection Area.
All the marks produced Skate, Spurs, Blackmouth Dogfish and Dogfish.
We fished in depths from 180ft to 850ft, trying all manor of baits and tactics.
We now have 9 new locations that produce Skate, when we get the weather and anglers are willing to go exploring then we are more than happy to do it.
Even when fishing areas that are new to us we have still managed to keep our record with no blanks and all anglers catching Skate.
Biggest Skate over the last week was 216lb caught by Tony Sulcas and it was his first ever Skate!!
This takes our total to 251 Skate for the season so far with 31 over the magic 200lb mark!!
We still have May 15th and 16th available whole boat charter only.

Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
The last 2 days have seen plenty of Bream being landed and returned, Monday was fished in perfect conditions but lacked fish in good numbers , Tuesday forecast was one of easterly winds and heavy rain fortunately the wind was not as fresh and the rain held off until late afternoon but the Bream fishing was the best this season with everybody on board in double figures not big fish the best may have been 2lb but plenty of sport for all. We also landed a very rare species for Poole a Mackeral along with Bass, Plaice, Wrasse, Dogs overall a couple of good days. Glad to see the Bream are starting to feed as last year they did not arrive until 19th April. Early for us and very welcome.

We managed to get to sea both days this weekend here at whitby.

Saturday was a very shabby day with a typical example of the weather men getting it wrong again!
Despite this the lads sat it out till lunch time, before throwing in the towel after I gave them the option of going back in, professionally it's no good for me seeing lads struggle, they still managed a few fish apiece which I filleted for them once back alongside.
Sunday was much better weather wise and we had steady fishing all day, we moved as bites dried up, best angler took 10 fish himself returning a couple and keeping 8 for the table.
We're still running week in, week out as weather let's us sail.
Our spring festival begins soon and runs April 13th to April 28th. We still have good wrecking tides available in the competition. We've already seen fish well into double figures this week, so Hope's are high!
Give me a call or text on 07977 436903 if you're interested in joining us for a days fishing.
