    Report on-board Obsession

Well, now we have had our sparkly new engines fitted we can get back to the business of Angling. Obsession has had 2 Yanmar 315hp engines and ZT370 drives fitted and is back in Brixham ready to get out amongst the action.
We decided to Take her out of the water for a month for the refit and had her lifted in Torquay and transported up to Portishead where the guys at Advance Marine were given the task to take out the old and put in the new and what a fantastic job Phil, Mitch and Bradley done. Nothing was too much trouble for these guys and the work was completed with a week to spare, so gave us time to see if there would be any glitches, which there was just the one or 2 minor issues which Advance marine attended to and resolved without any further to do.

We achieved over 34 knots on our sea trials and cruised along at 25knots with the engines purring.

So now we are back in, give Kev a buzz to book your place on Obsession

30 Sep 2017 by Colin De Block

    Report on-board Lead Us

A double shot for Mick on Lead Us
A weather window and slack tides saw us heading offshore to deeper water again. Within 5 minutes Bob was into the first hound of the day around the 5lb mark with plenty of spotties and whiting coming on board 10 minutes later i managed the first thornback and so it went on throughout the day just before slack water Mick had a lovely double shot consisting of a nice thornback and smoothound at the same time which took some pulling in. We ended the day with 6 thornbacks to 6lb 6 smoothounds to 6.5lb lots of spotties and whiting to go round. Mark as hard as he tried could not get past the whiting and spotties but did manage the record for the smallest spotties of the day. A great days fishing once again on Lead Us

  • 21/09/2017 Fishing Report by Gethyn Owen on My Way 2 (Holyhead, Isle of Anglesey)

21 Sep 2017 by Gethyn Owen

    Report on-board My Way 2

A good day afloat yesterday for our Sept Pure Fishing competition. Weather was not the kindest with a strong NW breeze forecast, fortunately this eased quite quickly, leaving a fairly reasonable sea for us to enjoy within the bay.
Our first anchor produced a good number of dogs and whiting, with a few other species including hound and strap conger.Similarly our 2nd anchor on the mussel beds, this time with a good few double figure huss added to the scoresheet and the odd tub gurnard. By the end of this point, Mark Cain and Chris Neden were only a few points apart as they battled for the win.

Drifting was as hard as expected, with only a few small pollack and the odd wrasse coming to the boat. Chris capitalised on this hr, adding 4pollack a ballan and a cuckoo wrasse to his haul, were as Mark could only manage a couple small pollack.

Our last anchor producing a final spree to the finish line with many more fish including a 2nd hound to Alan. Chris and Mark again matching each other for fish, but Chris’ better drifting proving decisive in the end as he took the win from Mark and Alan who had crept up the points list with a steady haul of fish through the day.

For the win Chris received a Shakespeare Agilty 9ft Tipster rod with a Penn Spinfisher 5500 fixed spool reel. The outfit with a retail price of £210 is ideal for fishing at both anchor and drift. The 3 piece rod has a sensitive tip section, that can detect the smallest of bites in all seas, while still having the strength to battle larger prey such as Smoothhounds to over 20lb.
