  • 25/09/2012 Fishing Report by John Goldsmith on Sea Leopard (Newhaven, East Sussex)

25 Sep 2012 by John Goldsmith

    Report on-board Sea Leopard

SEA LEOPARD for the last couple of weeks has been fishing for turbot and brill quite out of the norm you might think so did we until we tried it and we had what i can only say as great ,great ,great success quite a shock as we dont normally target them only picking them up by chance when anchored . Over these 2 weeks we have caught 126 turbot and 16 brill quite amazing as we only had 6 in the last 22 years and thats more than the entire newhaven charter fleet added together for that period . I think that some of this down to the new 3d olex system and other info given to us so we will now be spending more time searching for new ground and other types of fish if you would like to go on one of these trips please call john on 07957760063

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

A fantastic days fishing for the lads aboard the boat on the penultimate day of this years September angling festival here at Whitby.

Plenty of fish for the lads on the 9 mile ground with cod to 10lb, pollock to just short of 13lb and also the festival winner of just short of 24lbs!!! ( Report to follow )

Konrad Kiernozycki from Halifax brought this lovely pollock of 12lb 10oz aboard. He was using a blue 4" sidewinder on the wreck. He lost the lure the next drop!!

Some cracking pollock around at the moment here at Whitby.

    Konrad is pictured (inset)

    Tight lines

  • 23/09/2012 Fishing Report by Brian Sowerby on Ocean explorer (Hartlepool, Durham)

23 Sep 2012 by Brian Sowerby

    Report on-board Ocean explorer

The morning started off with a flat sea state as we set off out of the marina , with hardly a breath of wind .
Stopping at a chosen mark to fill the bait boxes with mackerel,we headed out even further , the very first drop produced a nice Ling for Denis Bray of around 9lb , and a few cod came in , again around the 8-9lb ,as the day got on the wind started to freshen up , and the sea state became choppy , and a little rough ,but this produced some nice fish , and a ling of 19.2oz to David .
As the afternoon came Lee (skipper ) continued to find the fish, and we were into some good Cod 7-9lb , and Ling into double figures , the fish continued for a couple of hours as we moved around the ground ,by this time the sea was getting a bit on the large side ,and it was getting difficult to hold bottom very well , so we headed back to the marine.
All in all it was a good days fishing for everyone on board ,and everyone took home fish.
