Half day tide trip, full boat left the quay and moved to the spot that has been doing well over the last few days picked up a few big mackerel no small fish around.... Moved to find some bass but got few more mackerel...

Half day and conditions were good with a light s/e we headed for a mark that i havent been to for a while we got the pick in at 7.20am to catch the last 2hrs of the ebb and what a 2hrs with Skate from the start it proved to be a great trip for all with Katy catching 5 out of 7 well done and hope you enjoyed your fish at The Sailors Home Kessingland,see you all soon, Done an evening trip went to same mark it was a bit lumpy but the fishing was very slow with only 1 Skate and a few Hounds tide was a bit strong see you Tuesday Rick for another go, Brian,Paul

Left quay at 9:45 with a full boat and went to the area that has been fishing well, picked up around 40 good size mackerel and released countless small fish... One lad even caught a herring!
Full day 1pm 9 fishing this afternoon went and had a look at some wrecks some fishing better than others but still landed a nice haul of good size cod and a pollock too which is something we have not seen in a while! Had a move in search of some early evening bass and landed one! Good bunch of customers had a real laugh, hope to see them again! View Boats Page

Hi, to all those needing a fish catching fix, I know I was!
What was better than improving the odds and getting out on a top class charter with a great skipper and a good bunch of lads?
Was out yesterday with Steve on Supreme from Rhyl, the weather held and the forecasted rain and wind held off until later in the day. The mackerel were still there just under the surface, theses were small - just bigger than joey size but would again prove to be great bait and good eating.
First anchor at the wind farm provided loads of Whiting (getting bigger), usual Doggies, Dabs, Tub gurnards of mixed sizes to 2.5 lbs and Huss. A couple of weeks ago we even had a Turbot here-hadn't even seen one let alone caught one for many years, would be great if they made a come back.
We had a move to slightly rougher, deeper ground after the slack water and the fishing got even better with bigger Huss some near double figures, Dogs, a nice Codling-Eric please note!!!!, Ray and lots of quality Gurnards both Tubs and Red, and the water was thick with Mackerel and Whiting.
Best catches of the day was the Hot Pasties with the sausage barms and mugs of hot Tea close seconds.
Oh well back to shore fishing for a little while, but will be looking to get out again soon for my next fix.

So far the weather in August has been fairly decent for our small part of the country and allowed My Way to sail everyday up until 17th Aug, 30mph winds ended thoughts of a day afloat. The early part of the month was spent on fairly large tides that restricted our movements. We did however set sail with the capture of a variety of species in mind.
Many of the days would start off on the drift looking for wrasse, pollack and codling, it’s a great way to move around our coast, travelling and fishing for some extremely hard fighting species. Couple this with relatively light rods and reels and you have some great sport on your hands.
During August and September, we run many evening trips were we spend the vast majority of time drifting for these species, only anchoring up for the last hour to for a well-deserved break and enjoy our supper.
On one such evening trip we were treated to a fantastic sunset and some excellent fishing with plenty of ballans to 3lb and some extremely colourful cuckoo wrasse along with a few small pollack.
Following a hectic few hours drifting we anchored up to enjoy the last hour fishing on the bottom and give us some time to enjoy our sausage butties, the sport though was again hectic at anchor with a variety of species coming over the gunwales along with only the second ever tadpole fish to be caught aboard My Way, the icing on the cake though was yet to come!
Manchester angler Dave has become a regular aboard My Way in the last couple years and has been fortunate around his wind cancelled trips to get out and find some great sport, this evening trip was to be similar as cries of net echoed around the boat as I prepared the butties in the galley below. This time Dave has managed to land a beautiful inshore ling, a ling that took the scales to just under the 15lb mark, the biggest to be caught aboard My Way and our only double figure ling to date, well done, a fantastic fish for inshore shallow waters.
The inshore fishing has again been typically very good on most days (there are though also a few not so good ).
Some of our junior anglers have really been making the most of the time they have afloat and catching a variety of fish from hounds and rays to the ever present dogfish and a variety of gurnards. It’s always a pleasure to take the youngsters fishing, they are always keen to learn new tricks and fairly often beat the adults at their own sport!
Towards the middle of August the tides started to reduce in size and with the first viable tide size upon us and very favourable weather we were off to Holyhead Deep for hopefully a little action with some double figure species.
Our run to the mark was to be glorious, bright sunshine and one of the flattest seas I have ever sea at Holyhead Deep. Looking east, the eerily flat horizon met the early morning fog on top of which the mountains of the Llyn peninsular popped through, an awesome sight to see.
The spurdogs reported earlier in the year had all but gone, but for the next few days the lads were all rewarded with numerous double figure bull huss and many small pack tope. I lost count of the number of tope in the 10lb mark, small but also great fun from 200ft of water. We did though manage to lose a few bigger tope each day, not the best thing to happen after playing the shark for 30 tiring minutes.

Friday 24th august 2012, 4hr trip today 4 anglers fished a wreck 7 miles out 2hrs before low water then 2hrs ath took 5 pollock 3 ling 1 cod, the best been the one of the pollock in at 7lb, both ling 5lb each, and the cod 5lb, sunny day flat sea good 4hr trip,

AUGUST 2012 - Brothers Steve and John Norman traveled up from Cornwall to join Flamer IV for three days flatty fishing.They were not dissapointed and between them they set and broke Personal Bests several times.John did really well on the first day catching lots of flatty's.On the second day he was catching flatty after flatty and big ones at that much to Steves disamay.John's PB plaice record went several times from 4Ib to 5Ib plus and finaly stoped at 5Ib 12oz.But On their last day Steve finaly got into his stride and broke his Personal Beat Plaice record three times in three drops with Plaice weighing 4Ib 8oz,5Ib and 5Ib 2oz.He also caught several brill with the best one weighing 4Ib 8oz.John is pictured with his 5Ib 12oz plaice.The brothers have already booked for March 2013 to fish for Big Turbot.

Orcel Sea Training are a small youth group from Hartlepool that takes young people to sea to build their confidence and team working skills. We had the rare opportunity to go makerel fishing on Danny Boy and we had a great time. All the young people caught a range of fish none of which they recognise at first but by the end of the trip they could name: mackeral, bream, whities, codling and dog fish.
Some of our group were very young but the crew on Danny Boy were very good at explaining clearly what the kids should do and should not do. They provided all the fishing gear we needed and they remaind patient when it got tangled up.
I think it is important to get kids interested in fishing so when they grew up they may become the next generation of boat fisherman.
