    Report on-board Optimist

What a strange three day period - Friday - four people fishing, and we end the day with eighteen keepers. That's how it should be! Saturday - one codling all day. Today (Sunday 15th) and we get six keepers in under an hour, then not a bite for four hours..... I guess that's why it's called "fishing", not "catching". That old adage "wind's in the east, fish bite least" comes to mind! Plenty of time left in the current cod season though.

  • 08/01/2012 Fishing Report by Bob Marshall on Duke IV (Ramsgate, Kent)

8 Jan 2012 by Bob Marshall

    Report on-board Duke IV

A good mix of fishing here at Ramsgate. The weather has been kind with the wind dropping out at last and amongst the Whiting, Cod and doggies we are still having some good catches of Thornback Ray. Herring being the bait of choice for the Thornies whilst lug and squid for the Cod!
The sprats are here too but for now the shoals are not heavy enough to make any difference to the fishing. Chris and Rob had a good catch of Codling on Duke IV whilst today Jasons crew from Hertford landed the Skate amongst the smaller stuff!
Bait is still available and Duke IV is ready to go so just call and lets go fishing!

  • 11/01/2012 Fishing Report by Peter Everett on Amino (Shotley, Suffolk)

11 Jan 2012 by Peter Everett

    Report on-board Amino

The slight break in the persistent heavy winds this week has given us opportunity to get out.....and the fishing has been pretty good!!. Monday's trip with Graham and Derek produced them 14 Codling to 4lb and more than a dozen Whiting up to 1lb+ some of which they are pictured with here.

Yesterday's venture produced 24 Codling to 5lb along with a few Whiting although these seem to be thinning out now. The Cod still appear to be feeding hard with Squid still undoubtedly the top bait...double Squid taking most of the fish.

There have also been a few 20lb+fish caught locally in the last few weeks so there is always the chance of a lump inbetween the smaller stamp of fish.

If you are a small group of up to 5 anglers or just two anglers struggling to find room on a larger charter, give me a call.

  • 01/2012 Fishing Report by Lyle Stantiford on Supanova II (Weymouth, Dorset)

    Jan 2012 by Lyle Stantiford

    Report on-board Supanova II

The first trip of 2012 on board Supanova took place this weekend (08/01/12) with a light Westerly breeze it was decided to venture to the Mid Channel wrecks to have a look for the early season Pollack.

We were into fish from the off, not fast and furious but with a couple of fish coming to the net each drift all on board managed to catch a few for their tea.

Best fish of the day fell to Tim Suttle from Trowbridge with this cracker of 17lb 8oz. Tim tamed the beast with and orange Storm Shad on an 8' trace and 20lb class tackle.

With a showing like this in January the fishing should continue to go from strength to strength from here on in!

I would like to take this opportunity to say Happy New Year to all Supanova customers old and new and all those anglers that make Weymouth the port it is.

Tight lines for 2012 one and all!
