  • 22/10/2011 Fishing Report by Aaron Smith on Bad Boyz VI (Holyhead, Isle of Anglesey)

22 Oct 2011 by Aaron Smith

    Report on-board Bad Boyz VI

    2011 Fishing,

This year has proved to be one of the best years in a fair while, with Cod numbers increasing trip by trip on the offshore wrecks and reefs in and around St Goerges Channel and setting a new boat record of 281 Cod 6-14lb and 102 Pollack 2-12lb on just one trip makes 2012 a year to look forward too and with our boats being the only wrecking boats off Holyhead we have them all to our selvs.

The inshore fishing has been very good at anchor producing plenty of Rays, Codling, Gurnard, Whitting, Dogs, Huss, Dabs and the usual other suspects, The inshore Tope arrived mid August around Trearddur bay and early September for Holyhead bay with 19 Tope over 40lb with the largest been 70lb 2oz on the scales.

The inshore reef fishing started very well around april with plenty of Pollack, Cod, Wrasse and Mackeral but sadly became patchy around mid august.

Holyhead Deeps has fished exceptional for tope this year with record numbers coming aboard but sadly not as many Spurdogs as recent years, with all commercial fishing banned the Spurdogs should be making a come back.

The Congers on the many wrecks off Holyhead are feeding with a good amount being caught, unfortunatley with weather has not allowed us to venture off too the 10-15mile wrecks which produced some very nice fish through the summer.

PICTURED a lovely inshore Tope weighing 55lb 6oz from a recent trip.

    Winter Rates,

    Wrecks for Conger 10-15 miles - £350 10hr

Inshore Whitting, Huss, Strap Conger, Dogs and the usuals - £200 6hr / £250 8hr

The diary is filling up fast with only a number a weekends left,

Wrecking trips for Cod/Pollack on medium tides

Holyhead Deeps Tope / Spurdog / Huss on small tides

Inshore general trips for Smooth-hound / Rays / Turbot / Codling / Pollack / Wrasse and many other species on the larger tides.

Tight lines for the winter and fingers crossed the weather is kind too us all.

  • 21/10/2011 Fishing Report by Bob Marshall on Duke IV (Ramsgate, Kent)

21 Oct 2011 by Bob Marshall

    Report on-board Duke IV

We are enjoying some super fishing out from Ramsgate, the weather has been kind too allowing us to fish places often out of reach at this time of year.
We headed south today with Roberts crew from Herne Bay and passing Kingsdown the fish marks on the sounder proved to be herrings that we caught on the feathers. We moved on to the Varne where we had Jumbo Mackerel, Bass and some tasty Turbot, the reason we came here in the first place. We stopped off at a wreck on the way back to Ramsgate where fishing the launce we had caught earlier, Chris lost a fine Bass and Rob landed a Pollack on a sidewinder.
Whiting, Bass, Skate and Hounds and the odd Cod closer to Ramsgate so plenty of species to aim for.
Looking forward to a busy winter with some weekend spaces still available on Duke IV.

  • 20/10/2011 Fishing Report by Peter Everett on Amino (Shotley, Suffolk)

20 Oct 2011 by Peter Everett

    Report on-board Amino

Four trips this last week have produced loads of Whiting and Dogfish, some Skate, Pout and the odd Codling around the 2lb mark. Codling are starting to show all along the coast although not in any great numbers at the moment - hopefully this will change with the big tides at the end of the month and colder weather coming in.

Yesterdays trip was part of the Police national boat competition and the five anglers on board had over 150 fish between them, with the top rod on board being Barry with 60 fish to himself in the 6 hours-well done Barry!

If you are a small group of anglers who are looking for some winter sport, please give me a call, or check out the website at www.aaacharters.co.uk.

  • 14/10/2011 Fishing Report by Colin Penny on Flamer IV (Weymouth, Dorset)

14 Oct 2011 by Colin Penny

    Report on-board Flamer IV

OCTOBER 2011 - Ian Pratt and his Welsh compatriates joined Flamer IV for an autumn Flatty Trip.Unfortunatley a nagging Easterly breeze seemed to upset the plaice and Ian caught the only one although the pouts and dogfish did not mind the wind direction. The turbot and brill fishing however was fine and the flatty's fed right through the ebb tide depite the drift speed reaching three knots at times.Ellis Jones landed the best flatty of the day with his personal best Brill weighing in at 8Ib.Ellis was using 15Ib class tackle with a flowing trace with a 4/0 hook baited with a strip of Ammo mackerel.Ellis is pictured with his PB brill. The Welsh group have vowed to retrurn in the spring of 2012 in search of plaice and big turbot.

  • 10/2011 Fishing Report by Roger Lennon on Skerry Belle (Ramsgate, Kent)

    Oct 2011 by Roger Lennon

    Report on-board Skerry Belle

Am expecting a big influx of codling any time now on the inshore marks which are sheltered from prevailing winds, I very rarely get blown off as opposed to more exposed ports or venues. The bass will probably stay around for a month or two yet because the sea temp is still quite high! This time of year usually throws up a huge fish or two. The boat will be operating between Christmas and New Year so if you fancy getting out of the house and blowing away the cobwebs and mince pies get in touch!! Have now got my 2012 diary and tide table January Feb and March should see us fishing for skate and large cod so get in touch now to book for the better tides. hope to see you all aboard Bayside soon,

    Tight lines

    Roger
