The fishing has been a little inconsistant recently due to the weather. There are still Conger and Cod on the wrecks if you get the weather to get out. We have now started inshore ground fishing for Cod. It should start to improve once the weather gets colder, as we are still catching plenty of Mackerel inside, along with some Dabs and Plaice. Report on-board Amino
Fishing over the last week has remained pretty consistent despite the tides dropping away towards the past weekend. We have averaged a dozen Codling each trip, still mainly in the 2-5lb bracket and silly amounts of Whiting with the odd Bass, Skate and Dogfish adding variety.

There are a few larger rogue fish at the moment with one being caught this weekend at 18lb and hopefully the next few weeks should see more larger specimens making an appearance.
I have plenty of weekday dates available so please get in contact if you are a small group of anglers looking for some winter sport. -

Thanks to everyone involved in the comp and a big thanks to those who donated a prize for the prize table.
Also thanks to all the competitors for their patients and good behaviour.
The day overall was a great success except the weather!
We had 6 boat and 45 entry’s that fished the comp. Weather was S/E at 16mph and gusting to 27 mph the sea conditions were testing to say the least, and under normal circumstances I think we would have been up the Solent or cancelled. Any way the comp must go on! So we braved the condition and decided to fish the comp in an area just north of the spoil grounds.
Fishing was hard in the easterly winds, but some cod were caught.
We had 12 cod weighed in, heaviest fish was 18lbs 8oz and a total weight of 124lbs to the scales which given the conditions wasn’t bad, so well done to all those who managed to pull a cod out. I’m sure under better condition we would have seen a lot more fish weighed in.” But that’s fishing for you”!
At the weigh in: Bacon sandwiches, tea’s and coffees were well received, so thanks to Annie and her team at the boat house café in the marina where the weigh in was held, and a special thanks to Maddie, Annie’s daughter for her help in the prize draw. A job well done.
The winner of the heaviest cod went to Neil Turner with a fish of 18lbs 8oz
Second heaviest cod Garry Wiltshire with a fish of 17lbs 13oz
Third heaviest cod also Neil Turner 15lbs 7oz
Heaviest bag Neil Turner 33lbs15oz
This was Neil’s first time boat fishing in the sea, and he walked away with £500.00 of prize money, so well done Neil.
