The thornback numbers are increasing finally
We Boated around 20 odd to 12lb offshore the other day not massive numbers i know but its a start finally!
We also had plenty rays inshore on an short evening trip last week so they are starting to move inshore too a good sign.
All fish took herring baits & the good thing is using herring is the spurdogs love it too.
Spurs are being reported in good numbers offshore to the east so if you want to pay to punch further to the east for some spurs let me know.
Its a good sign that the spurs could on the way we will just have to wait and see but hopefully it will be as good as last season spurdog run!
Its Not long and the Hounds , Bass, Tope will be here before you know it.
The forecast looks very poor as im sure you have all have seen the storms are upon us & i doubt any boats will get out any time soon NOT good for any charter skipper.
Call 07523488290 or follow me @dawntidecharters for availability but i will say theres only limited availability left during the summer its looking busy & im looking forward to another great season thanks everyone stay safeUPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD DAWN TIDE II

Fishing Report by John Peck
on Lady Margaret (Poole, Dorset)
Jan 2022 by John Peck
Report on-board Lady Margaret
After a very unsettled start to the month/ year the weather settled down allowing some fishing trips in very pleasant conditions.
View Boats Page
The main target were whiting and they were around in big numbers. There were still a few big 2lb+ channels around but not as many as the excellent fishing of mid December.
Despite it being the middle of winter we saw a nice variety of species coming aboard including bass, small eyed and spotted rays, pouting, congers, dogfish and even a long Spined Sea Scorpion which attacked a bait as big as itself! -

Report on-board Lady Margaret
This month saw the arrival of the winter fishing. The whiting have been slow to arrive this year with just a few landed up to December.
View Boats Page
However, some more settled weather in the middle of the month saw some great fishing. There were lots of whiting around of a good average size with plenty in the 2lb+ class.
Along with the whiting there were blonde, undulate and small eyed rays along with congers and dogfish. There were also a few squid around.
Unfortunately the unsettled weather came back again after Christmas preventing any more trips. -

Report on-board Shy-Torque III
Had our first run out yesterday after a fortnight off for rubbish weather.

With the tides being in the neap range we made a decision to run off and try a few offshore wrecks.
Bad decision!!
After 3 wrecks we had just a couple of fish on board.
The water offshore is currently like pea and ham soup!
Nothing ventured as they say.
A chat with the lads resulted in a vote to run back inshore and try a few hours Uptiding.
As soon as we dropped in we had fish coming aboard over slack water and as the Ebb tide pulled through we started picking a few Codling up to end the day.
Good banter as ever aboard the boat.
Cheers for now,
Rich

Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl
After a bit of a respite in the weather, we finally had a day back at sea today. The tides are a bit on the small side for uptiding, but everyone was keen to give it a good go.
View Boats Page
With four hours of the flood tide to use, the boys got straight into action, picking away nicely for most of the morning. The best fish were just a fraction under 5lb with plenty of fish to keep. Squid and Black Lug hookbaits taking the fish as usual.
Unfortunately, the wind lifted as the Ebb tide started to get away at dinner time and that really slowed things down. We had a few moves during the afternoon and everyone kept plugging away taking a few Doggies, Pouting and small Codling, but the flood tide was definitely the one today.
There was a great atmosphere on board and plenty of chat and banter, which always makes the day a good one.
Plenty of space next week on some rising tides if anyone fancies a day out.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea Urchin IIl

Looking forward to spring this year been very tough here on us with very few codling this winter only now seeing odd one or two hoping we may have a little run soon. The whiting at times been prolific got us out of trouble to be honest! Caught thornbacks all winter not a bad thing give it a couple months we should be back in full swing with them hopefully and be moaning about spotty dogs as we always do. I say it every year but get your dates down for tope trips as the best tide days go fast and saves disappointment . Out for spurdogs middle of month new target species for us will keep you posted on that not the easiest of fish to target due to there feeding patterns but will see what we can do. Easy on a 5 mile longline not so easy on 100 yards behind a boat. Been asked alot to do father and son day again so when weather breaks will get organised on that . Looking forward to being of service will catch up with you soon,Tight Lines everyone,

Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
Today we choose to try for Plaice as the last few weeks have produced some excellent Whiting fishing with the best falling to Don P who during it being photographed slipped and accidentally returned it the expression on his face was awesome and the words completely in printable, today’s weather was the best this year flat calm and warm once the sun came up. We did not expect to catch many Plaice as this is very early for them so we decided to try 3 marks, the 1st produced plenty of Whiting and 2 Plaice the next mark produced more Plaice as did the final mark, not big fish but most rewarding finding them this early. Wonderful day afloat in perfect conditions.
