Report on-board Spot On!
A big Merry Christmas from myself and Spot On
View Boats Page
Once again 2018 has been a very successful year and with 2019 looking 'stacked' it's going to be a good one.
So many amazing moments including the biggest turbot caught in the Channel Islands from a visiting English boat.
Out right winner of the Torbay festival along with many other great prizes and also TOP CHARTER boat once again.
Witnessing amazing thresher shark leaps and White beaked dolphins along with the blue fin tuna.
Some new pioneering ventures planned. Let's hope the weather is on our side.
Diary is pretty much full so a big thank you to all customers and friends old and new and I look forward to seeing you all in 2019.
Once again a big thank thank you to SIDEWINDER lures and TOP RIGS for there continued support.
Brixham is fast becoming the place to be and with the amazing fishing that is on offer you can see why.
The next few months is one of the best times to go wrecking as the winter pollock fishing for these 'big' hard fighting fish is second to none.
Don't forget that the blonde ray boat record is also held around the corner on the skerries bank so if you want the chance of a big ray then this is worth a go too.
Happy Christmas once again -

Report on-board Size Matters
Well if there was ever a year for a charter boat, 2018 was definitely Size Matters year.

We had the biggest fishing article feature in Sea Angler Magazine for over 10 years and managed two front covers!!!
Sponsorship from Shimano UK with a full range of new tackle to be used in 2019.
During 2018 we helped our anglers catch some truly amazing fish in UK waters.
Six Gill Sharks to 512lb ( Unofficial British record),
Blue Fin Tuna to 366lb (Accidental Catch).
Porbeagle Shark to 300lb.
Common Skate to 220lb.
White Skate to 160lb (Unofficial British record),
Blue Shark to 130lb,
Blue Skate to 40lb (Unofficial British record).
All this in just the space of five months!!!
That’s Six different species of fish in UK waters over 100lb, we also are the only boat in the UK to have ever caught all 3 species of Giant Skate!!!
You may be wondering how the hell we can better this next year, well we sure are going to try.
We have now changed our code of practice, we can now stay at sea for up to four days at a time, fully insured.
We now have a fully fitted shower with hot fresh water onboard, Satellite phone, all new safety equipment, three different appliances have been fitted for cooking meals, sleeping accommodation for four anglers and two crew.
It was costly to do this but we know this is going to be the future of UK charter fishing.
The charters we have planned over the next two years are going to push UK charter fishing to it’s limit!!!
All we need to make these charters happen is good weather and a bit of luck on our side.
Please note we do not target for Blue Fin Tuna and do not offer Blue Fin Tuna fishing charters.
We still have a few individual places available for Scotland in spring 2019.
Plymouth 2019 is fully booked and we only have 8 days available in 2020 from Plymouth.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our friends, customers and fellow skippers a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Tight Lines and Screaming Reel’s!!!
Thanks
Kevin Mckie

Fishing Report by Sam Cumming
on Silver Spray II (Poole, Dorset)
Dec 2018 by Sam Cumming
Report on-board Silver Spray II
This month’s report isn’t quite as exciting as last month I’m Afraid. As you can imagine we have only been to sea a handful of times because of all the storms lately. In November we made the journey down the Northney Marina for the 2 day Northney cod comp. We forgot to invite the cod however so fishing was mostly congers whiting and a few rays. Big thanks to Bex and Ian of Kelley’s Hero Charters and Zac and Glen Cairns from Valkyrie Charters for organising and most importantly providing the bacon rolls. We will be back down there next year to have another go on 14th and 15th November. Elsewhere the best fishing has been for the bass. When conditions allow we have had seen plenty of hard fighting fish on light tackle including Craig Newman’s first ever bass of 10lb 4oz, that’s going to be hard to beat. Ian Memish caught our biggest bass of the year so far (still a few days left to beat it) after a solid 10 minute fight the fish hit the deck unharmed with the hook lightly in the top lip. After a quick photo it was back in the landing net to oxygenate the fish and watch it swim off for another day. Definitely our best catch and release of the year, the fish would have weighed around 14lb if we had taken the time to put it on the scaes. In the bay the fishing is good with some nice whiting, rays and of course the ever abundant congers. The cod are thin on the ground as mentioned earlier but sometimes they come on late in December and continue on into February especially further west off Poole. A massive thank you to everyone who fished with us on Silver Spray Charters in 2018, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and tight lines for 2019.
