After a ruff 6 wks of dramas nightmares and headaches Ladyhelen is finally on the mend I haven't been able to take any bookings as boat has been out of action :( but after a few few wks of hard work see is ready to get back out fishing !!!! Any1 who's been out onladyhelen will no there in for great day out weather you catch fish or not !!! Which is very rare on Ladyhelen pics and reports will prove that !! Saturday 21st January, 9 lads mostly regulars turned out today on this frosty cold morning at 7am for an 6hr uptide trip 3 of the lads were beginners never fished on a boat, Soon has the anchor went down the lads were into codling from 2 half lb to 6lb been the best fell to one of the beginners, Good colour water and overcast the lads took around 30 codling,

north off the Holyhead Deeps have fished well in 245 feet water with spurs up to 18lbs Huss dogs as well the 4hr evening trips been okay as well fishing in to the wreck with congers up to 25lbs Huss dogs whiting pout small ling rays I have dates free for the Deeps and fishing smooth hounds 2017

Hi Guys,
Happy New Year to you all, hope you all had a good Christmas, and have managed to eat the last of the cold Christmas meats and mince pies that were left over.
Well it certainly has been a funny few weeks since we wrote our last blog, we seem to have gone from a very mild winter to a freezing one in less than a couple of days, “Brrrrr”!!
It seems that for us the cod fishing has slowed up somewhat, we have gone from our best day this season of 4 cod boated in a day to scratching around to find one lucky one, in saying that thought, the lone cod we have been finding have been a better size and better quality of fish.
One of the good points of the inshore ground fishing, is that the congers seem to have declined, I know they keep the rods nodding, but they do get a pain when you aren’t fishing for them and some of the anglers were losing quite a bit of gear with them. Shouldn’t moan really as it keeps them catching!
We have landed some nice size whiting over the winter this year, some reaching near on 4lb. The whiting fishing this year has certainly blossomed compared to the last few years of many pin whiting. Whiting was on the menu 90% of the time over the last few weeks, YUM!
Now, the other funny thing this winter, it seems the water temperature hasn’t dropped as much as normal, meaning that our wrecking season has kicked off a little earlier than expected. We have managed to find some nice Pollack out there so far, and we do hope that this will continue well into the wrecking season.
Come the end of January our winter cod competition will be ending, the leader at the minute is Mark Lennox, with a cod of 18lb. The winner will receive one space on our inshore trips and £100 tackle voucher for Allans Marine.
We still have some spaces left to be in with a chance of beating this, they are:
Jan 19th: 4 spaces
Jan 27th: 4 Spaces
Jan 30th: 6 spaces
These trips are £50 each. Please get in touch for details and booking.
On the 1st of February, our new competition will be starting, this will run until 31st August. This will be for the biggest Pollack caught on board Kelley’s Hero. Likewise to the cod competition, the prize will be a space on one of our wrecking trips for the next season and a tackle voucher worth £150 for Allans Marine.
The spaces for wrecking over February are:
Feb 5th: 6 spaces
Feb 13th: 4 spaces
Feb 17th: 6 spaces
Feb 22nd: 7 spaces
Feb 25th: 5 Spaces
These trips are £75 each, and again please get in touch for details and booking.
Our Alderney trips are now filling up, available dates for these are:
May 4th-7th: 1 space
May 22nd-25th: 1 space
June 19th-22nd: 5 Spaces
July 3rd-6th: 6 spaces
July 14th-17th: 5 spaces
Aug 3rd-6th: 4 spaces
Prices for these trips are £375 per person, Plus your accommodation, you will also be required to pay £100 deposit

This winter has produced more double figure Cod for us than any other year. We have had days when we have landed plenty of Cod and Whiting with the odd Thorn back ray.we have found that once the tide rises to over 29ft it use to be 28.5 ft t the flow on the river is too much for people to hold bottom and there is a lot of debris in the water ,the river seems to have alteredslightly and a 29ft is fishable on the flood although the numbers of fish are less and the tangles increase.
Most of our fish have fallen to lug and squid cocktail below is a 13lbs 8oz Cod caught on Linas trip

The whiting fishing really turned on in late December with the biggest average stamp of fish I think I've ever seen off Poole. Fish between 3-4lb being caught two at a time is good fun on the light tackle. As I'm starting to see more and more markings of sprats on the sounder the whiting seem to be getting fatter and fatter, they really are one of the nicest eating fish around I just wish they stuck around for longer. Not put off by the small baits we have seen some smashing cod on the whiting gear, always putting up a hell of scrap. As well as the target species we have also seen a lot of mixed fish on the cod baits. Thornbacks, undulates, congers, smoothound and spotty rays are all in abundance. One of the highlights have been some of the big bass that continue to pop their heads up. Shane Barlow landed a monster 15lber whilst fishing in the bay with a squid and cuttlefish bait, the second biggest one we have ever seen. Fish of the Year for 2016 went to Pete Read for his 25lb 4oz spurdog caught in March, a brilliant catch even if she was a little camera shy before being returned. We have done our first trip out to the banks with success landing spurs to over 20lb and blonde rays as well. We look forward to doing more of this in the coming weeks.
