The fishing took place to the east of Weymouth with a variety of Rays being landed along with other species which included Tope, Smooth Hounds, Congers, Pollack, Mackerel, Garfish, Gurnards etc. The group did a friendly/competitive species competition during their Angling Break which saw Merrik Knight retain the champions cup. Weymouth Angling Breaks -
A few days away fishing out of Weymouth along with the social side is a nice trip to do.The variety of fishing and the amount of different species caught at Weymouth is probably second to none. There are plenty of places to stay which are angler friendly and some excellent places to wine and dine around the harbour and in Weymouth Town centre.
If you want to try a Weymouth Angling Break then contact me, I cater for whole boat charters and individuals.
Planning your trip well in advance is essential you need to arrange your boat booking and your accommodation as early as possible to avoid disappointment, some of my regular groups plan their trips at least 12 months in advance, this allows them to discuss with me the best tides for the type of fishing they are targeting.

  • 18/09/2016 Fishing Report by Bob Marshall on Duke IV (Ramsgate, Kent)

18 Sep 2016 by Bob Marshall

    Report on-board Duke IV

Still plenty to catch off Ramsgate for now with winter species arriving and summer fish leaving, a few Codling being reported already, quite early this year so hopefully a good winter ahead. Whiting are here one day then gone the next. Bass fishing good mostly small fish but with better ones amongst them. The Hounds are leaving now through our area, nice feisty fish up to 10lb, a real handful on light tackle. We have had good numbers of Skate through the winter recently and as we have been catching them throughout summer we should keep good numbers through winter. Dates available throughout from now whole boat and individuals trips so come on down before it gets too cold. A nice Hound caught other day on 2hrs fishing trip see picture.

  • 09/2016 Fishing Report by Ross Parham on Spot On! (Brixham, Devon)

    Sep 2016 by Ross Parham

    Report on-board Spot On!

The start of September has been hit and miss with the weather but session on the skerries bank both for plaice and rays have proved to produce some good action at times.

Offshore the wrecking is still good with ling and bream with Pollock on the drifts.

A few more trips planned across to Guernsey to complete the island trips for this year in September so I am looking forward to seeing what's about over there still.

Sharking has been good with plenty of blues around this year and even porbeagles hanging around the boat to snatch any helpless pout on there way up.

Spot On yet again managed some great results in this years Torbay festival taking several prizes for its anglers.

Big thanks to Sidewinder and Top Rigs for there continued support and with skerries eels and rattlebacks continuing to do the business on the wrecks I hope they continue to keep catching the fish.

Pictured is Paul Whiting with his superb 22lb blonde ray.

    Aug 2016 by Ross Parham

    Report on-board Spot On!

August has proving to be hard work on the wrecks with cod now all but gone and only small Pollock left but yet again its been sessions at anchor that have seen the best action with huge black bream, nice 20lb+ ling in abundance and plenty of slimy eels to keep the rods bending.

Our first sharking trip of the year was a great success with 9 blues boated and plenty of missed runs and fish lost, biggest of the day was a cracking 109lb fish.

Pictured is Roger with his fine wreck caught black bream.

Thanks to all who continue to support Spot On and Brixham.
