Winter COD season is only 7 wks away beginning mid October and runs through till March !! Due to tides we are limited to fish the river Mersey when tides are below 28/5 foot so days and weekends are limited lady Helen has been here taking charters out for almost a year now and we seen and meet lots of new friends many who have fished with us this summer have already book for a COD trip as pics and reports show we are the most up to date charter boat in the north west FACT!!! So to avoid disappointment it's wise to check what dates u have free and book ur COD trip well in advance plenty of wkends availible and discounted mid wk trips if uv never fished the Mersey before it's like nothing else uv fished before 100 yards out the lock and ur on the COD ur easily fishing 9 hours out of the 10 hour trip check out reports and pics from last winter ! • 14/08/2016 Fishing Report by Philip Higgins on Mistress Linda / San Gina3 (Poole, Dorset)

    Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3

With the weekends forecast coinciding with very small tides offshore fishing seemed to good an opportunity to miss. Taking advantage of this we headed out to sea with several stops for mackeral which we had trouble finding close to shore so heho we just went with what bait we had. At our chosen anchor point with the anchor deployed several lads decided to try for bait and fortunately mackeral came in thick and fast, as soon as the big baits hit the bottom the fishing kicked off with large congers, big Tope and outstanding size bream coming in so fast I never got back in the wheelhouse for the duration fo the Saturday trip much to the amusement of the lads, several good fish were lost due to bite offs. Sunday was much the same but the tide seemed to be much more vicious but as soon as it cut a little the action kicked in with eels, Tope and more big bream coming onboard. It was a pleasure to watch both groups returning most of the bream only the deeply hooked ones were kept, over the 2 days the bream fishing was exceptional with the best being 4lb 12ozs (returned alive). A tiring weekend for me but fantastic fishing for the boys. Once moored up we were inspected by the SIFCA officers and with nothing to worry about and their good professional approach we had a few laughs and went our separate ways, as a skipper I welcome these inspections.
Check out the website for spaces on forthcoming trips.
    Tight lines

  • 08/2016 Fishing Report by Kevin McKie on Size Matters (Craobh Haven, Argyll & Bute)

    Aug 2016 by Kevin McKie

    Report on-board Size Matters

[This report was written when Size Matters was operating from Plymouth]

During the last week we have had some big catches of conger and ling, on the best day we totalled 55 conger to 84lb and 15 Ling to 33lb. On other day's the ling where so thick on the ground they out numbered the conger! The cod and pollack fishing has slowed with just odd pollack to 18lb and cod to 10lb. One of our regular anglers Dave Gicquel had a cracking day, first drop he landed a conger of 84lb, on the next drop he landed a 22lb Ling and on his third drop caught a 61lb conger! On the same day another angler called Peter Kay who had not been fishing for 30 year's landed his first conger then next drop landed a 33lb ling! The following day I had a group of anglers onboard from Nottingham, the day started off very slow but when the tide finally started to run they landed 26 Ling to 20lb and 22 conger to 83lb, all in the last two hours of the day. Alan Booth caught the 83lb conger and wanted to get an accurate weight on the conger, as it was close to a club record and on the boat it's quite hard to weigh a big conger in a sack with a bit of sea running. So we decided to empty the fish bin and put the deck hose in it and keep the conger alive to weigh at the fish quay. When we got back the conger was very lively we managed to weigh it then let it go in Sutton Harbour, so if you fancy catching the British shore record conger you know where to fish!
I best mention I have had my girlfriend onboard a few times over the last week, apart from talking everyone to death she caught conger to 25lb and ling to 13lb not a bad effort in 280ft of water.
If you fancy getting in on the action then give me a call or text on 07999628511.

    Cheers
    Kev

    Report on-board Brigand

Made the best of poor weather today by getting out for some mackerel which is now filleted and wrapped in 5kg packs in the freezer ready for you to use..... Like all things on Brigand it is free
Always bring a pack of this versatile bait along on our trips as a standby in one of our cool boxes packed with flaked ice.....don't like to waste precious fishing time when they are scarce.

    Best wishes

  • 15/08/2016 Fishing Report by Malcolm Collins on Just Mary (Christchurch, Dorset)

15 Aug 2016 by Malcolm Collins

    Report on-board Just Mary

Hi All, arriving back late Friday night from a trip abroad to visit my extended family and straight back to work early Saturday morning ! Due to some slack Neap tides we stuck to Plan A and went three miles South of the Anvil with fresh Mackerel and anchored an Offshore bank. The forecast showed the winds slacking but they picked up and we coped with conditions that 'Just Mary' thrives in. She just sits there unmoved by the conditions and is such a solid stable Sea Boat. A move to the 'Slates' produced Conger Eel and Paul Green is pictured with one. We moved again to the 'Spoils' and caught Tope on fresh Mackerel again before another move to Ballard for Undulates. Sunday the wind died down and with a party from the West Midlands travelling to Poole plus some locals we again went South of the Jurassic Coast. We landed Mackerel, Gurnard, Undulate Rays, Black Bream, Pouting and more Conger on a glorious day in the Sun. Another busy weekend on the Boat that goes farther to find the fish.....thanks to All my Dedicated Anglers.....old and brand new.....ta Malc.

  • 13/08/2016 Fishing Report by Colin De Block on Lead Us (Lowestoft, Suffolk)

13 Aug 2016 by Colin De Block

    Report on-board Lead Us

A great fish for Barry on Lead Us
with a bit of swell running but a falling forecast we headed to an offshore mark in time to catch the start of the ebb. Things were slow until the tide picked up with a couple of hounds coming in, and then Barry was into a good fish which stayed deep and fought hard, at first site i thought it was a cod when i saw the white of its belly but a flash of its black back told me it was a bass and a good one. once landed and weighed it tipped the scales at 7.5lb a PB for Barry and the best bass on Lead Us so far this year. Things slowed down as the tide eased again but after a couple of moves we started catching again as the flood picked up with some more good hounds coming in ending up with 12 to 7lb and the bass @7.5lb.

  • 13/08/2016 Fishing Report by Nick Gough on Skylark (Scarborough, North Yorkshire)

13 Aug 2016 by Nick Gough

    Report on-board Skylark

We had 3 great wreck fishing trips today with many very happy customers.

We started off with a 8 hour trip in not the greatest conditions but far better than it had been during the week. Unfortunatly for us we had 9 anglers cancel the night before but this gave the two customers a great opertunity to have the boat to themselves.

Shads had the avantage taking the better Cod with bait grtting a good mix of cod and ling.

Heavist cod was 15lb caught by the skipper on a protype uv/glow shad which after seeing the results we will be fabricating some more to try. The skylark twintails and skylark 4inch shads worked really well too outfishing top brand shads which is great to see.

Our second trip was a 3 hour wrecking trip with prety much new anglers and kids who managed the wrecks really well catching a good amount of mackerel and ling and a few Cod.

The last 3 hour wrecking trip of the day was again with new anglers and kids and they again had severel bags of cod and ling to take home with them.

Photo from the second 3 hour trip of the day.
