    Report on-board Sea Otter 2

It is some of the biggist tides of the year at the moment and the WCSA spring festival is underway and last 2 days of the competition we had dropped the ankhor as Uptiding seems to be the best option with the massive toads and the Algie bloom making fishing hard on the wrecks .

Here is a shot of the lads from Sunday with a few if there fish they around 40 cod upto 7 lb some very nice plump cod in very good condition caught in 60 ft of water .

Great trip as always, first decent Coalfish I've had in nearly 20 years! Great piece of boatwork to retrieve it when it fell off the hook! Ross worked hard all day to keep us in the fish and we are looking forward to our trip later in the year. Many thanks again Ross, Mike and Brian

  • 03/2016 Fishing Report by Gethyn Owen on My Way 2 (Holyhead, Isle of Anglesey)

    Mar 2016 by Gethyn Owen

    Report on-board My Way 2

March 2016 was true to form, plenty of wind and rain mixed in with some gloriously fine days. The fishing, when able to get out was generally very good for early season, with some great spurdog fishing available when the weather allowed for travel a little further afield.

Our general fishing trips in March tend to centre on our mainstay species, dogfish, whiting, codling and huss. These are caught in abundance with rays, coalies, pollack, dabs, congers and a few others making an appearance.
Weather permitting, we travelled to areas of Holyhead Deep and encounter for fantastic sport from the packs of spurdogs passing through our waters. Normally Holyhead Deeps needs a neap tide to be fished successfully.

When the weather is great early season the area we fish in the Deeps the tide size is not so critical. Granted the smaller tides give us longer at anchor, but a spring tide can also offer over 2hrs of good fishing.

The vast majority of the spurs have been well into double figures, with the biggest falling to Burnley angler Bernard Casey, a fantastic species of 20lb 13oz, 1 lb over the current Welsh Record boat caught spur. She was weighed, and released after a quick photograph.

April aboard My Way and the fishing continues to improve as moore species move inshore and the spurdog fishing improves.

  • 01/04/2016 Fishing Report by Ryan Casey on Meerkat (Weymouth, Dorset)

1 Apr 2016 by Ryan Casey

    Report on-board Meerkat

    MARCH FISHING

At last some nice weather in Weymouth for us to be able to get out on the wrecks/ Inshore fishing.

The fishing on the wrecks has been amazing at times, some days a bit of a struggle but still being a reasonable amount of fish with some crackers coming aboard, biggest this year so far being 19lb 8ozs Pollock falling to Alan Shepard from Minehead.
Pete Huznyl from Coventry also had a fish of a life time in March with his John Dory weighing 6lb 12ozs what is also the new boat recorded. (pictured)

    INSHORE FISHING

The big fish fishing has been steady with some big specimen Rays/ Spurdogs coming in. Hopefully soon to be followed by the Undulate Rays, they has been a few coming in off the shore now so wont be long and all you Undulate virgin can come out and catch one of these stunning Rays.

Shambles isn't on fire at all but there are fish showing with an average of 6/8 fish a day, but all you Turbot chasers know its only that one big fish what makes it all worth it.

Fingers crossed the weather continues to be nice through out the year and we get to see you all again.
Thank you for all coming to Weymouth and making it down here for the nice weather.

If you would like to be on my last Minute texting group please send me a email with your name and number and i'll add you to it.

    Tight lines
    Ryan

  • 04/2016 Fishing Report by Aaron Smith on Bad Boyz VI (Holyhead, Isle of Anglesey)

    Apr 2016 by Aaron Smith

    Report on-board Bad Boyz VI

With our main Wrecking season fast approaching we have finally managed to get the boat out of the water to have annual re paint along with a few new touches to the vessel and her new 3D Sounder tech which I'm really looking forward to having a play with on the wrecks in 300 to 400ft of water.

Fishing at the moment had been steady in shore with plenty of Huss, Dogs, Whittings, Codling, Dabs a few Thornies and some Coalies / Pollack last week inshore and when the weather has been kind and allowed us to venture out a bit the shoals of Spurdog have been in abundance.

Don't miss you chance to get out to some of the best wrecks of our coastline and try beat the boat record Pollack of 17lb 2oz from 2015.
