  • 01/09/2015 Fishing Report by stuart cross on Celtic Wildcat (Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire)

    Report on-board Celtic Wildcat

The winds howling again so i thought i would share some info on a trip last year. I know its late but here is a report on some great shark fishing we had out of Neyland marina West Wales on Celtic Wildcat. Only four of us fishing my eldest son and mum and dad {The clampets}. We were very lucky to get all three days in catching 62 blues, roughly 20 a day. We could have caught a lot more but opted to take the other rods out while we played a shark, no point hooking two and landing none! Five or six over 100lb, with many between 70lb and 100lb. I took 40 fresh mackerel with us on ice which is always a good plan just in case. As it was we loaded up on the first day but you never know. i also took two tubs of rubby dubby for each day which turned out really good. Please note for protection of your sex life don,t mash mackerel up with a hollow tube, when it eventually works its way up and goes over your head and down the back of your neck your supply will definately be cut off. Graeme Pullen did not make this clear in his totally awesome fishing video i,m not happy.!! Skipper Nick,o,Sullivan has been fishing this area for years and it certainly shows, he is very organised and a very nice chap. He is the man to ring if you want to have a go. The sharks in the photos are all over 100lb, my mum landing two over the tonne, so don,t moan that your arms ache because she is 74. On a different note i would like to thank all the skippers that we fish with, its been a terrible winter and we know the bills dont stop even if the fishing does. YOU are our gateway to a lot of fun and laughs, you give me and many others the chance to escape from the bollocks and spend some quality time with my family chasing the ever elusive whopper! Once again thank you all for what you do. Stuart Cross

  • 27/03/2016 Fishing Report by TERRY BATT on Vanishing Point-2 (Bradwell Marina, Essex)

27 Mar 2016 by TERRY BATT

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

I think fishing means different things to everyone, it's not for me to judge who is right and who is wrong?? fishing is a personal sport and we all make personal choices, which I firmly believe that no one should try to push their believes on anyone else.
I remember many years ago, 60 years to be honest... ( I can't believe I am 64) it's like I am writing this through my granddads eyes...! but I was just 4 years old when my dad and granddad took me sea fishing, I can still remember the excitement I felt, with my rod in hand, my heart beating that little bit faster and couldn't wait to get my bait on the hook and my line wet.
Then there was the waiting... and the waiting,,,, and so on, but eventually, the rod tip moved..!! and it started bending rapidly and yes.!! there it was my first sea fish, a little Flounder, and from that day to this I have been hooked.
Now again, this is just my personal opinion, we have good years and not such good years with the fish stocks, and the weather all playing a part, but for me, all fish are special they all need catching, weather you fish for the pot, or purely for the sport of it as I do, (mainly due to the fact I don't like fish to eat) so for me it's the hunt, weather it is, a Cod, Smoothound , Tope, Mackerel, right down to the smaller species, whiting, dabs, Flounders, on very light tackle they are all good sport and good fun, and that's what I think is sometimes missing.... Fun.. sometimes it all gets a bit to serious.
You know, I still get that feeling inside at my age, as I did all those years ago when I first started fishing, the felling of excitement, and the anticipation of what I might catch, and that first cast of the day, which I know will be a great day...!!! and you know why?? coz I'm fishing.
Me and Nicola are blessed with the job we do, being paid to do the sport we love, it don't get better than that, weather the fish are big, or small. it's all just fishing, love it for what it is......I know sentimental old fool... well if that's what people think of me, then guilty as charged, but as soon as this dreadful Easter weather subsides, I will be out there..... baiting casting, and waiting, and hoping that rod tip, nods once again... what ever it may be.....
Thanks for reading ...... Tight lines, boys & girls..

  • 25/03/2016 Fishing Report by Kevin Wyatt on Obsession (Mevagissey, Cornwall)

25 Mar 2016 by Kevin Wyatt

    Report on-board Obsession

Good Friday 25th March saw Obsessions first trip from Brixham, Devon.
Ross from 'Spot on' charters decided to make it a two boat competition and put up a prize for the biggest fish caught on a lure so the two boats left Brixham ferry pontoon at 7am and we steamed out together in glorious sunshine and flat calm seas.

We fished the one wreck all day alongside Spot On and it was fantastic.

We had plenty of Pollock, a few ling and some pouting.

I am pleased to announce that 'Obsession' won the day with a fine ling of 25lb which won the weigh in on the pontoon at the end of the day, Spot On had some nice Pollock which took the second place.

All in all a great first day for myself and crew on Obsession.

Thanks to Ross for allowing me his time and help to show me the ropes and start me on the right track of catching fish.

If you want to book a place on Brixham's newest edition to the charter fleet and join Obsession, the massive 40ft charter boat then please call or txt Kev on 07964053347

    Report on-board SWN Y MOR

Hi weather still causing problems for offshore fishing gales keep water coloured no good for lure fishing at the moment. But should be ok in a couple of weeks on the neap tides if weather improves usually a lot of coalfish with the pollack at this time of year. Bottom fishing producing odd skate Huss dogs whiting at the moment.should have a good run of spurdogs shortly if they turn up on time. Mid April onwards usually very good or them. Take advantage of special rates on aqua star for good fishing on a large comfortable boat
