    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

    15.03.2016.

Paul Dearden and the lads from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue had their 1st trip with us yesterday.

With the best of the fishing here at Whitby still being on the offshore marks we armed ourselves with plenty of bait and headed back out there again.

The team turned up 5 handed so plenty of space for them. On this trip they brought a newcomer with them. Mark really enjoyed the day and managed a very nice 10 cod himself which included a double up on the baited Hokkai trace. A good catch by anyone's standard on his maiden voyage. Sadly the weather was slightly against us on the way out which meant a steadier steam than normal adding half an hour to the travelling time out there.

When we arrived on the ground the fishing was just as good as it has been on the last few trips there, in the 1st hour I had a good bag of cod myself and lads weren't far behind.

Total tally for the day for the boys was 90 cod. A great day with cracking company as ever.

    Cheers lads

    Rich.

  • 14/03/2016 Fishing Report by TERRY BATT on Vanishing Point-2 (Bradwell Marina, Essex)

14 Mar 2016 by TERRY BATT

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Well the weekend was interesting, with ENE winds forecast, and huge tides to 6.3 mtrs, we were fortunate that the low waters were around 0830 to 0900 over the weekend, so we had wind and tide together nearly all day.... result...!!
On Saturday we pushed 22 miles East from Bradwell and fished a mark I have not fished for several years, fishing was not easy but a lovely day light winds, and wall to wall sunshine.. then Jez Spencer from
Gt Yarmouth started off the proceedings with a decent Skate, then we caught all around the boat, I think we boated around 20 Roker and a few Whiting.
Sunday 13th March the wind was picking up to around 24 mph again ENE but we got there at low water and although a bit more of a lump in the water, we managed to boat about 18 Roker with Troy Botterell kicking off the proceedings and more followed from all around the boat. phew I was running from the stern, to the bow...(got that right Troy??) but another decent day in what was not the best conditions..
Yesterday Monday 14th March was another day of ENE winds which was blowing at 31 mph, and again we left at low water and steamed 25 miles east of Bradwell, and fished all day in relative comfort and the boys from Newmarket had a good day on the Roker fishing, but it has to be noted, that we caught more fish yesterday on whole squid, it out fished Herring !! while over the weekend you couldn't go wrong with Herring strange how things change.??
Ok guys will report back after the weekend as we are not out now until then.... unless anyone wants to makes up a trip then give me a call.... tight lines...!!

    Report on-board SWN Y MOR

Hi big tides this week coloured up water so lures not very good .plenty of whiting everywhere some good ones. Huss and a few small spurdogs but not much slack water due to size of tides. Try and pick smaller tides better fishing and more slack water. The bigger spring tides ok later on when bass appear and more pollack and coalfish on reefs. Smaller neap tides coming up lets hope it stays calm to get out a bit possibly do a few wrecks

  • 13/03/2016 Fishing Report by clem carter on Wild Frontier 2 (Weymouth, Dorset)

13 Mar 2016 by clem carter

    Report on-board Wild Frontier 2

    FANTASTIC POLLOCK FISHING CONTINUES..
We are grateful to share the report of our angler, Allan Yates, who came fishing on Saturday and enjoyed THE best that Weymouth port has to offer - great sunrises, flat calm seas and Monster fish on the wrecks..enjoy reading this report...

'..Fishing is always a good day and today was an exceptionally good day out of Weymouth on board Wild Frontier II with skipper Clem Carter and a crew of dedicated anglers all but one I’ve fished with before so if we find the fish these chaps will do the business. Lousy drive down in the early hours due to heavy fog and steaming out to the first wreck the channel was a tad misty but calm and no winds. By the time we arrived on the first mark the sun was making an appearance and with the first drift fish were on so it was all starting to look rather like a good day. Some real clonkers were arriving on board and many double figure fish were taken using a variety of lures in various colours with the favourites, blue white, pearl white and rhubarbs leading the pack. We stayed on one wreck all day with fish on every drift and even as the tide slackened they still where on the take with various full house drifts. Plenty of fish for the freezers, plenty of practice for me ready for Norway next week and even caught some sun. If you could pre order your days fishing and weather to suit this would be what you would be asking for it doesn’t get any better than this. These images are a full house every angler on the boat with a fish and even The Poser !! Clem Carter got in on the act with a real fat girl and why not he found the fish for us on every drift thanks to GPS and a skipper who knows how to use it. I was even treated to a glorious sunset over the marina eating my fish and chips BLISS… Weymouth Rocks AGAIN !! I’ll add a PS to this skipper Clem Carter filleted and prepped all the catch on the way in as the auto pilot well Deano sat in the hot seat !'

THANK YOU, Allan - it is appreciated. There are more photos of the day in our gallery and on Allan's website.

  • 12/03/2016 Fishing Report by Rich Cope on Mistress (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

12 Mar 2016 by Rich Cope

    Report on-board Mistress

Finally the weather gods have cut us a bit of slack here at ‪whitby‬ . It was nice to get to sea after a good week or so tied up.

The tides have been enormous this last few days so with only a few anglers booked on we opted to give the ‪uptiding‬ grounds another crack.

Our first spot gave up a few codlings as we finished the flood and went into slack water, the bites dried up completely so I had a run off a few miles to see if we could tempt a few fish to bait or shads but a combination of coloured water and the big tide meant we just lost gear! Nothing ventured and all that!

So we steamed back inside and got the anchor back back down, the fishing really was slow on the ebb tide, despite moving all over trying different spots and different baits we just werent hitting them, a few undersized codlings, pouts, whitings and a doggy were all we could muster. In all honesty I thought about calling a short day, but the tide at this point was about to turn so i sat it out a bit longer.

As soon as the flood bent though the rods started bouncing, so with a couple of hours of the day left we sat it out, moving to a ground edge I like we took a steady picking until home time, everyone got a few cod to take home finishing up with around 20 codlings and the usual bleggs and a doggy, nothing huge but a good few pushing 4lb, and a bonus Lobster for myself, a couple of the lads caught undersized Lobsters too that were returned.

This next week the tides fall away and the water is clearing all the time so we will be looking to hit the wrecks again, we have bookings for wednesday and friday and the minute with spaces available, we will sail with a minimum of 3 anglers if you fancy any of the other days,

If you fancy a days fishing on ‪#‎Mistress‬ give me a shout on 07977 436903, e-mail, seafishingwhitby@hotmail.co.uk or drop me a message on my facebook page Mistress Sea Angling Charters
