Report on-board Galloper
Our general trips are producing a great mixture of fish at the moment. The main target is often the hard fighting smooth-hounds. These pretty fish are great sport particularly in shallow water where they really pull your string. As well as hounds the bass are always popular as both sport fish and for the table. They can be a little tricky to hook at times but that’s half of the fun. Using worm can really help attract these fish and we have been enjoying great quality and quantities of these fish once again. There are still a few thorn-back rays around too, some of which are ideal for the table, the others provide a welcome bend in the rod. We have also been catching quite a few tope on our general trips as well. Mostly smaller examples than we might expect on our offshore tope trips but they make a welcome addition to our days fishing and with a few reaching 8-10lbs they start to pull your string too.

Ian Deakin joined us as an individual they other day and had a great mixed bag of fish. there weren’t any giants of anything but he had steady numbers of hounds with a few 8-10lbs, one or two small tope and several sizable bass in between the dogfish. he certainly seemed happy and if he keeps catching like that he is welcome aboard Galloper any time!
I have individual spaces and possibility of full boat bookings over the coming weeks and months if you want to get out.

Fishing Report by Andy Savage

Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl
We had a brilliant day out at sea today. I’d booked the boat and had six friends on, who are all seasoned anglers.
View Boats Page
With it being a small neap tide, it was always going to be a day wreck hopping. We started with a fruitless Mackerel hunt for half an hour, then got stuck into a few inshore wrecks. With the Flood tide running into slack water, the first wreck produced a good number of fish to the anglers fishing muppet bait traces with a whole Squid on.
It wasn’t until the Ebb tide came through that the Shads really kicked in. Ian Kellock and Ian Steadman both picked up a decent stamp of Codling averaging over 4lb, with the biggest one going 8lb.
Today we got what we had been lacking of late……consistency. We never had a quiet period at all today, but that is largely down to the ability of the lads, who certainly know how to catch them.
By mid afternoon, the fish were being thrown back as everyone had enough to take home. It was one of those days I really enjoy….. great company, great banter and great fishing.
Thanks lads, it was a blast.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea Urchin IIl

COD! COD! COD! (CODLING)
Wow, well that wasn’t expected in all honesty. After yesterdays tricky trip (which was fish filled, just not the most desirable type) I had everything crossed for an improved trip today.
The flood tide has made for some tough fishing recently, so I was pretty glad to get the chance to fish the ebbing tide for a couple of hours this morning.
Mackerel was first on the list as usual, and we found them straight away.
Black Bream were next up, getting to the anchor spot in time before the tide started to drop being crucial, and bream were found in some good numbers.
COD! Being not a million miles away from my cod mark when the tide finally switched off was also stage 3 on the list…… And we most definitely found them. All but one angler landed cod, with most of them landing more than one, and most of them losing BIGGER fish too.
Today was definitely the most prolific day on the cod we’ve had. The tide widow for them is small, so being in the right place at the right time is key.
Species today - Cod, Mackerel, Smooth-hound, Ballan & Cuckoo Wrasse, Pollack.
Great day out on the sea.
I even had a little dip cutting some braid off my port engine, it was quite refreshing

We sailed just Friday and Saturday at the end of this week, after saying our final goodbyes to a great friend and work colleague on Wednesday. Our good friend Pete Rose was a true gent and all round great bloke. R.I.P mate. You will be greatly missed. ❤️
View Boats Page
Both Friday and Saturday fished reasonably well with some nice plump Codling boated.
The water is properly like gin now and some of the more inshore marks are producing too now which is great to see. Shads working everywhere now too.
The Summer competition is now underway here at Whitby so we will be trying the wrecks with the fresh baits, trying to lure a big Ling or Cod from one of them.
Fingers crossed for anyone and everyone who takes part in this year’s event.
Cheers for now,
Rich

Massive thanks to Ash and the guys for making the trip up from Barnsley today; we struggled to find any mackerel for bait so the guys were predominantly fishing shads and targeting pollack, with some lovely codling and ling in the mix. It turned into the Pollack Apocalypse! Myself and Henry learned a lot from them today thats for sure. We look forward to welcoming them back soon!

Cracking Father's Day run out in windy and choppy conditions; the guys soldiered on and we kept trying til the end.

The better stamp of mackerel were found the further offshore we ventured, with some codling, pollock, whiting, coalies, haddock and pouting in the mix.
When the opportunity presented itself, we hopped on a spot known to produce ling; Piotr and his twin brother Pedro (his first ever time fishing) knocked into one each on their first drop, and Pedro found another two over the next couple of drifts.
At this point the wind and chop were proving too problematic so we headed for home with a couple of stops for mackerel along the way.
