Report on-board Sea Otter 2
The forcast today was for a stiff southwesterly wind the lads were keen to wet a line so i told them ankhor down was the only option to much wind to go wrecking i was quitely confident after the northerly swell yesterday and a very big tide we might just get a shock my hunch was right .

Local lad perry franklin was onboard the uptiding master with his baits if anything was about he would allmost defernetly locate them and sure enough lines went in a couple of minuites later perry was shouting for the net and by the way his rod was bouncing i new it was a good fish.
The lads fished steady till the wind started to really howl and with slack water beckoning we decided to call it a day a lovelly surprize uptiding was good in april last winter it looks like its going into may this year.
Perry with his fish a really nice cod.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea Otter 2

Report on-board PLAN B
Had a short trip on Saturday with a group of novice sea anglers.... Luckily one of them is a Diesel fitter and got the niggling air issue with my engine sorted. The fishing was slow with a few skate and dogfish on a lower river mark, we tried an old favourite and caught a few more, and sadly lost a big one when the line snapped.. thats fishing..

A group of lads from around the North East joined us yesterday. The fishing was far from easy but we did manage to find a few in the end.

We steamed out to 3 wrecks 18 miles NE of Whitby to start the day and pulled around 25 fish off them. Nothing of any real size though. We had a couple of drops on the 9 mile ground on our return and had half a dozen more codling there, which is very encouraging!!
One of the lads actually managed a treble on one drop!! A major improvement on the last couple of months. Things are finally starting to go in the right direction and the Algea seems to be thinning out at long last. This Winter seems to have been never ending!!
The big fishing is literally just around the corner here at Whitby. Have a look at the availability calendar and give me a call for a chat anytime.
Pictured is Andy from Thornaby with one of his codling.
Happy fishing
Rich

Fishing Report by Bob Marshall
on Duke IV (Ramsgate, Kent)
Apr 2013 by Bob Marshall
Report on-board Duke IV
At last Duke IV has been able to get offshore to the wrecks off Ramsgate and the chaps from Daggers deep sea anglers caught plenty of Cod on jellies, shads and all sorts of rubber lures. Micky had the best of the day a shade under 11lb, not bad for so early in the season. Just one Pollack today for Kev who also landed his PB Cod and a nice Plaice when we stopped to drift lug over a bank on the way home.

Plenty of Skate inshore along with Smoothounds and the first Bass so its all happening out from Ramsgate. Baitwise still herring around so they will remain a good bait for Skate while soft or peeler crab is the top bait for Hounds, Bass will be chasing sandeels making hokkies a good choice while the lugworm still a good bait for the Bass. Still dates available for booking Duke IV. Whether its inshore or offshore you will always get a great days fishing aboard Duke IV. Check out www.fishingramsgate.com for latest fishing reports, individuals dates and best deals around. Tight lines, Bob -

Report on-board Gwen-Paul-M
At Last.....Good signs offshore.
View Boats Page
A weather window today allowed another foray to visit some offshore wrecks. Even in Conwy Bay the signs were there, hinting towards a big change in the water temperature, since a fortnight ago. Temperature inshore had increased from 4.7 to 8.7 degrees! Offshore the difference was less marked, rising from 6.7 to 7.4 degrees. Doesn't seem like much, but enough to put the pollack back on the feed. We had about 40 pollack to 7lb. Not startling fishing but at least the season seems to have finally started. Pollack fell mainly to rhubarb and custard 4-6" sidewinders. We also had a few coalfish to 4 lb.
Another charter boat from Conwy also had plenty of whiting, dabs and dogfish inshore on Saturday.
I have room on Sunday (28th April) on 8 hour inshore fishing trip if anyone is interested. -

Report on-board Optimist
Some really good fishing on the Skerries at the moment for Plaice with some good size fish, not many Launce and surprisingly no Doggies, Wrecks still producing Pollack and Pout with occasional other species but the seas are still settling down after 2 months of incessant Easterly Gales. At least we are getting out now and bringing home some fish. Inshore still no sign of the Mackerel, only good sized Herring and baby Whiting

Fishing Report by Scott Belbin
on Lady Grace (Brightlingsea, Essex)
25 Apr 2013 by Scott Belbin
Report on-board Lady Grace
We headed out at 9am this morning to fish up to high water, it was a lovely still morning and I had aboard 2 couples that wanted to try their luck at their fishing. It started off a little quite with only Alan getting whiting bites but not much luck getting them in the boat, then Christine caught a nice whiting around 1.5lb, then once Christine had showed Alan how to do it he caught another whiting around the same size. Margaret, Alans wife, then told us that Alan had the lucky rod in the lucky spot on the boat so they swaped places and with that Margaret caught the first skate of the day which Alan was not best pleased he had given her his rod and place on the boat then. Margarets skate weighed in at 6.2lb. It was time to head home so they decided to give it another hour before heading in as they caught their first skate and were hoping for more action. Alan and Margaret then swaped places on the boat again where Alan then had a skate on around 4.5lb which we let go and Colin who felt unwell towards the end of the trip then caught the last skate around 5lb which took his mind off the sea sickness for a while. All 3 skate were males, they kept 2 for their dinner. A lovely day had by all.
