Report on-board Cleveland Princess
Triston and Jim on there easter break decided that a day at sea would be better than a shopping trip with the wifes, conditions were not the best with a North eastly i put the boat on a mark in front of the Cliarmont pier as this was the only place with a bit of lee, first cast and Triston was into a fish 4lb 8oz Cod we all thought could this be the spot then 2 Whiting came aboard and that was that when tide tuned perhaps it would fish a bit better but with wind against tide things got steaderly worse 13.00 it was decided to go back in and come and play another day,i hope you enjoyed your fish boys and will see you when you are down next time,Brian.

Report on-board High Flyer 2
Thought it best to add a report as we have not bothered lately. This is down to most trips being cancelled, the weather has been in the east for nearly three weeks now becoming a joke . Completely fed up with the lovely british weather look at the picture! Our trips between the storms have been mostly whiting, very few codling, so much baitfish in the water the cod have been mid water chasing the shoals and not on the bottom. Have had tremendous herring hauls within ten minutes three or four boxes no wonder we cant get to the fish with so much feed available. Good news is the fish are thinning out, after easter the tides slacken so going out wind dependable, to the 14 mile marks for early skate hope to also see the dogs making a return . Clocks change and add an hour to your tide time tables dont forget BST is 31st march. So hopefully a change in the weather soon, looking forward to the best time of year, clear water, hot sun and plenty of bites weve been through the worst now, bring on the makerel and sandeels, big bass and those fantastic tope. Hope you can join us at some point ,look forward to seeing you all for some rod bending sessions soon.

Report on-board Duke IV
The days are stretching out, its slowly warming up and the fish are moving. We are now looking for the spring run of Cod this area is famous for. The fish move inshore to feed on the crab, whiting and small squid that are moving into our waters, so there is plenty of feed to attract the fish.

The Skate have now laid their purses so will be hungry and feeding, with herring always a favourite bait for these superb fish. The males are smaller but very fiesty while the females go to 15lb so great sport on light tackle. Still some Bass around inshore and the large shoals will soon be running from The English Channel around into The Thames Estuary. They run close to shore around the South Foreland and up the Gull stream, not easy to catch as they are more intent on traveling than eating but a juicy lugworm or fish strip can sometimes tempt them. Smoothounds will be looking for the crabs with peeler or soft crab being the bait of choice, again great sport on light tackle. 12/20lb class rods with 7000 size reels make an ideal set up for all our fishing, light enough to allow the fish to perform, but powerful enough to land a big Skate
We will be shortly begin offshore wreck fishing, looking for Cod, Pollack and Bass, drift fishing the wrecks with shads, jelly worms and hokkies. pick a small tide with good weather and enjoy the day.
Duke IV will be back fishing Saturday 23rd following a couple of weeks out for maintanance including antifouling a few repairs and a good clean up. All this to keep us number one in getting you out fishing as quickly and safely as possible!
To attract the small groups who like the boat to themselves we are currently offering a great deal. Book Duke IV exclusively for your group for a days fishing from just £180 or still just £40 for individuals bottom fishing. Contact me for your trip and we will sort the best deal for you! Daiwa 2013 Brighton Pollock Competition
View Boats Page
Brighton Pollock competition was won by Connor Bonwick with a superb Pollock of 17lb 9oz.Caught on Board Seabreeze3,And the junior prize was won by Michael Parker with a Pollock of 10lb 9oz
The 17lb 9oz Pollock was caught on a small wreck twenty four miles off Brighton on Seabreeze3.
Connor was fishing alongside his Dad, Darren. When Connor first hooked into this superb fish he thought it was the wreck, and then when he realized it wasn’t the wreck, the battle began. After five minutes of playing the fish it finally broke the surface. We all knew on board that this was going to be a big fish but didn’t realize it was going to be an 18lb fish.
When the fish was first weighed on board, it weighed in at just over18lb but by the time it got weighed in at the harbor it had lost a little weight.
Connor was absolutely thrilled to receive £22 from the anglers on board who all put in £2 each for the heaviest fish. He then received £300 to spend on Daiwa fishing tackle and also a free day’s fishing trip on Seabreeze3. Needless to say Connor was a very happy young man!
I would like to say a big thank you to all the other guys that took part in the competition and also thank you to Paul Dyer on Brighton Diver for organizing the competition who raised over £1000 for the RNLI. Well done.
If anyone would like a day’s fishing on Seabreeze3 then please give me a call on the number below.
Tight lines,
Terry Lee
