Report on-board Girl Gray
There we were, 7 novices, dressed for about 10 degrees of frost in the Marina car park at 06:30 of a Saturday morning wondering what the hell we had let ourselves in for.
View Boats Page
Very smooth transfer to Girl Gray, locked out about 07:00 and away to our first fishing spot. Skipper had rods all organised for us. After a bit of good patient advice and help from Steve - "The thin end goes towards the water" - and such like and we we all fishing.
Mike first in with a 3lb+ codling after about 10 mins. and suddenly it was a competition. Quite a few more were dragged on board over the next few hours along with Whiting, some quite decent ones, and several flatties, not quite so decent.
Biggest of the day to Dean with a Codling just under 4lb took the kitty.
Tea and coffee and a large helping of banter flowed all day and a great time was had by all. Now regard ourselves as seasoned fishermen and will definitely be back for more. -

on Amino (Shotley, Suffolk)

Report on-board Amino
Out today with Jim, Andy and Pete given that the wind had subsided a little.
View Boats Page
As we ventured out, there was a fair swell running through which made things a bit difficult to start with at anchor but within a short while Andy had his rod tip pull right round resulting in a 6lb 4oz personal best Cod followed a little while after by Jim (pictured) with his new PB Cod of 7lb 4oz. Along with this there where plenty of Whiting, Jim having the best at 2lb 4oz, another personal best for him.
It slowed up a bit so we headed inshore and had a further 8 cod to 3lb, returning some of the smaller fish along with plenty of Whiting.
All in all not a bad day, with 3 PB's althiough the quality of fish wasnt there in great numbers once again.
I learnt a new tip from Andy today, casting with a fixed spool reel using the drag and not using the bail arm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!hahahahaha ;-) -

We locked out of the marina at 7:45 and headed to our first mark of the day. It didnt take long for the first Cod of the day to be pulled in with a few more over the next few hours. We moved twice more throughout the day with a steady stream of fish over the 3 marks. First timer to "Discovery" Joe, landed a PB Cod of 8lb 2oz to take the pool for the day. Well done Joe
All in all a cracking days fishing with a great bunch of lads.
Total for the day 21 Cod to 8lb 2 oz
See you all in the New Year.

Todays trip was cancelled due to a strong wind warning.
I spoke to the lads last evening and gave them the choice of going or cancelling they chose to cancel due to them having lads with them that havn`t been on a boat before.
