Report on-board Ocean Warrior 3
The weather hasn't been quite so good over the last couple of days, although, we are still managing to catch some nice Cod and Whiting over the rough ground.
View Boats Page
There have also been some Plaice and big Dabs showing on the inshore sandbanks. It has been one of the best years for catching Plaice I have known off the Newhaven and Brighton area. Lets hope that next year continues to be as good or better...
We still have some spaces left over the Christmas and New Year season, so if you fancy a day out Cod fishing visit www.oceanwarrior3.com. My website has also recently been updated so check it out to see the changes.
We are also now taking bookings for 2013, the weekend dates are going very quickly so book early to avoid disappointment. -

Report on-board Shy-Torque III
Looking at the forecast for Whitby last night, we were fully expecting a flat calm day today at Whitby. The anglers had all been watching it too and thought the same thing. Winds predicted were no stronger than 10mph and variable for the day.
View Boats Page
We were all loaded with fuel by 6.0am and the lads were all on board by 6.40am so we made off to sea with a nice early start to the day.
Conditions through the pier ends were great. Very little movement at all and still little movement when we got out to the 9 mile, so we decided to make for the wrecks on the 20 mile.
The lads had a cracking 3 hours or so amongst the cod. Most of the fish coming up on the bait today. A change from last Sunday when nearly all the fish were on the shad.
Sadly, by 12 o clock the weather had deteriorated quite a bit from the North and we decided to make for home. By the time we were 5 miles from land the weather was "crap" so a good call. The wind now blowing 20mph from the North!! ( If only they could predict more accurately! )
The lads managed around 60 cod to 12lb for their efforts today. Lovely fresh run cod too!!

Fishing Report by Gethyn Owen
on My Way 2 (Holyhead, Isle of Anglesey)
Nov 2012 by Gethyn Owen
Report on-board My Way 2
Wind and rain has continued to play havoc with our days afloat. This week in particular much of the country and Anglesey in particular has been hammered with winds in excess of 50mph.
View Boats Page
Fortunately on the days we have managed to sail the fishing has been fairly consistent with a good number of fish and a variety of species available for the anglers.
One trip in particular saw a family group hop aboard My Way for a day of catching, nothing in particular, the emphasis was on having a bit of fun and hauling a good number of fish aboard My Way along the way. Fortunately everyone the fish had read the email I sent out and we were rewarded with plenty, with dogfish and whiting making the bulk but huss, dabs, gurnards and thornback ray amongst others adding to the fish count; many of the whiting well over 1lb in weight and going home for supper.
Herring, pollack and coalies have been around on a few trips now and all within a good take able size. Although I guess following this week’s seriously high winds, we may struggle to locate them for a few days or so.
We had another fun match last weekend; sadly a couple anglers had to withdraw the day before leaving only 5 fishing for the days honours. With big tides and a forecast that had a severe gale 9 moving in later that day our fishing was restricted to a few marks within Holyhead Bay.
Our first anchor produced only a handful of fish for the guys, a few dogs and the odd whiting, thus a move to some slightly deeper water was on the cards further into the bay. Here we started to hook into more dogs, whiting and a few dabs. As the tide slackened off Chris changed tactics to slightly smaller hooks and searched for a few species and was rewarded with a few poor cod and also a nice late goldsinney wrasse to add to his tally.
Chris and Harry were both edging into the lead slowly matching each other fish for fish. Chris was on the stern picking up single fish with a quick drop and retrieve, whereas Harry pegged at position 8 near the bow of the boat, took the approach of waiting to load the hooks up and retrieving less frequent however double shots and the odd triple.
From Telford we had Ray, Keith and Jim all having a small wager amongst each other as to who would take the honours and bragging rights for the journey back home. Keith following a slow start that saw him struggle to catch in the first couple hours, changed tactics in midway through the morning and was soon to be rewarded with regular double shots of whiting.
With rock goby, huss and tub gurnard adding to his fish list Chris was edging away from the pack slightly and came out the eventual winner for the day with just under 70 fish, beating Harry, into second place by a few fish.
Keith carried on his new found fishing fortune and took the Telford crown from Ray and Jim who vowed revenge on a return trip! -

Report on-board Sea Otter 2
Sunday was the last day of the uptiding festival here at whitby sea-otter 2 was leading to the very last day of the competition with an 11lb cod but it was beaten with a 20lb cod on the last day caught only 400yds from the shore all the same we had cracker on the last day stacks of cods the best ounces of 11lb the best bag of cod on the boat was over 40lb .
View Boats Page
This was the best cod on the day just under 11lb caught just 300yds from under the cliffs one of many.
Whitby is unique not only is the wreck fishing for cod here at whitby probably the best in the country , during the winter months they move inshore in droves with loads of fish just a stone throw from the shore when the wreck fishing for cod is on hold because of the weather you can still gets come cracking fishing uptiding , distance means nothing here at whitby 20lb cod can be caught minuites from the harbour you are not steaming for hours to catch quality fish .

Report on-board Flamer IV
NOVEMBER 2102 - Bill Oliver age 59 from Somerset joined Flamer IV on an offshore wrecking trip and landed plenty of Pollack weighing up to 9Ib 12oz using sidewinder lures. But Bill also had great success catching Pollack on a dexter wedge which was being used to try and catch Bass.Bill is pictured with his 9Ib 12oz Pollack.Simon Ringrose from Oxford also caught several Pollack up to 9Ib 8oz but Simons best catch of the day was a Lobster which took a fancy to his rhubarb and custard sidewinder.During the slack water period two anglers tried mackerel baits with Phil Harrison catching a nice size Ling and Graham Gardner lost a monster.

Its that time of year again when the weather has the last laugh.

Thankfully of late things have been pretty settled, great catches of Plaice and Bream continue to keep all busy. It is the latest I have ever caught Plaice and it is showing no sign of slowing as yet. Combine the red spots with Bass, Bream, Cod, Rays, Congers, Turbot, Brill and some Pollack on the wrecks things are still pretty Rosy in Weymouth.
One of the highlights for many anglers venturing to Weymouth at this time of year is a crack at the atlantic squid that turn up just outside the harbour every autumn. Phenomenal eating and great fun to catch, what a way to round of a great day from Weymouth!
Pictured is Phil Rogers with the average size we catch.
Tight lines all!

The offland winds have prevailed all this last week leading to the waters here being crystal clear offshore and spot on for some serious shad fishing!
The tides were ideal for us to have a run back to the wrecks 20 miles East/Northeast of Whitby but one of my mates was there the previous day so we decided to try a new pasture.
First stop on Sunday was an area known to the local trawler lads as "The Rocks" some 23 miles North East of the harbour. This fairly small area is renowned for damaging their gear as it is extreemly snaggy. A good choice indeed as we were able to work the area all day with a good amount of fish on board before home time. (Not many charter skippers know this spot like us, so it usually produces quite well)
We left the "Rocks" still catching fish so we will definately be trying there again the next time we get the weather.
I would just like to congratulate John Whitton from the Whitby charter boat "Never Can Tell" after one of his anglers won a recent competition here with a cracking cod of 20lb 12oz. Well done mate. John is also one of Whitby's commercial potting skippers and his knowledge of the marks inside 1/2 mile is amazing, as he has proven!!! He is certainly worth having a look at in any future inshore competitions.
