    Report on-board Supreme

Once again the weather men got it wrong .

The plan was to push offshore a bit but with a dodgy forecast the plans were altered to fish inshore plenty of huss ,dogs ,few dabs, tub gurnard ,plenty of mackerel the lads soon got bored of this and with the wind dying down fancied trying for something a bit bigger .
So we hatched a plan to go to a spot of rough ground and see if we could get a conger or two ,we were not to be disappointed with a few coming to the boat and a few more lost on the way in ,the lads were using barbless hooks.
July has been a bit of a wash out with the rain and wind but the fish still keep coming in so lets hope we can get a prolonged settled spell during August.

No other skippers info was used in writing this report.

NO GIMMICKS , NO BULL JUST RESULTS.

    Report on-board Why Worry

For one reason and another it wasn't conclusive of a good days fishing. The weather started off shite and we took a bit of a battering going over the Whittiker first thing.Across to the Barrows for some Mackerel where, lets just say 'The Sea was interesting'.We ran across NW from there and dropped the Hook.A series of missed bites, lost fish due to line breakages etc saw some smaller hounds and one decent Bass come aboard. As the tide eased we moved off to the south and the 75ft line.Again missed bites and an absolute clonker of a head shaking Bass again saw a line breakage. At low water we drifted and got some Mackerel for the guys to BBQ.We then had a couple more hours of the new flood tide which resulted in a few more smaller Hounds and missed bites.A long day, again nearly 13hrs, but I am not of a mind to do short trips.I believe in giving anglers 'Value for money'.Once you have done the miles and Diesel, it costs no more to do a long day...Only time.
Thanks to the guys for coming today.A real nice bunch of blokes and a pleasure to meet.Looking forward to seeing you all again.
A few days off now for us due to the weather turning crap.

    Report on-board Why Worry

Today at last after all the wind we have had,we managaed to get Offshore for the Tope.We went....we caught one....Just not a very big one.In all honesty I think it is over for the year.Perfect tide,Bait, area and none there.I am not hearing of any anywhere in the Thames by anyone.I just don't think it is worth the journey and fuel anymore this year.We missed the best of it because of the weather we had.
We still caught plenty of fish, just not Tope.We had Rokers, smaller hounds etc.Plenty of Mackerel this morning once I had found them. They were not where they have been for a week, having moved a couple of miles to the East. The Rokers (Thornback Rays) have now moved offshore and it is pretty much carpeted with them out there on the Tope grounds.Smaller Smoothounds and the odd Bass are on the contours of the Offshore banks with them.
Tomorrow and Sunday we will concentrate on the Hounds and the bigger Bass in the deep water.Lets hope the weather holds out.Next week isn't looking too sharp at all and looking to be back 'Tied up' again.

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Tonights evening trip started well wind decreased for us despite a little shower. First off with whitting for Paul, only 3 months early! Nice couple of smoothies came aboard, was expecting skate from this mark, despite all our efforts and various baits it wasnt to be. Went through slack with anoying crabs picking us clean as usual, decided to head inshore off the worm beds but scuppered by another large vessel anchored up right in the middle. Thanks alot! tried for the last few hours on the inshore wreck mark in the Roads but proved difficult even though the fish were on the finder. Big thanks to Paul for organizing the trip, and guests, Donald,Matt,Kev,and Nick, was a enjoyable evening and all agreed better than having to watch eastenders!
All the best men, much appreciated.

    Jon.

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Todays trip was strange all round. weather forcast good headed for a favourite mark off the Holm channel, lost a decent fish possibly a tope , wind started to blow unexpectedly! Up anchor and away to little bass mark which has proved well in the past but wind making standing difficult so decided to drift north up the bank armed with every bait imaginable. Even though gulls working the water nothing came aboard so steamed north to a skate mark resulting in a couple,David in the picture here with his first skate. Nice little red gurnard, few flatties and weavers! weather took turn for the worse.Lightening, thunder , big rain the lot, tried Hemsby hole for shelter was no good so headed home. Thanks to lads fom Greene King,Daniel,Ady,Alan(relief skipper)Nick and Tom for organizing, along with Paul,Dave,Ken,richard, and Mike for organizing. Really testing day all round, well done men for putting up with it, much appreciated.

    Report on-board Mistress

Yesterday was another successful day aboard Mistress, the best lad got nearly a full box of fish himself, mainly ling today, we caught a few cod on shad early in the day and a few came later to bait off the wrecks. Biggest Cod weighed in at around 10lb caught on mackerel fillet. One of the lads had a bit of a surprise today when he reeled in a dead weight after being tangled in the wreck. Not only did he catch a shad and weight but tangled further down the main line was a lobster nearly 4lb in weight!

    RNLI Charity Fishing match

We held a 3 hour fishing competition in aid of the RNLI on the 29th July.

The Whitby boats raised just short of a £1000 for a very worthy cause with cometeition entry fees and charity raffle afterwards.

Heres a picture of local lad Damo with his winning fish caught on Mistress. A 9lb 12oz Cod, well done to Damo and everybody involved.

Stag fishing trip Sat 28th of July
Although we tried to blow this trip of on Friday due to a strong wind forecast.which meant we would not be able to fish the marks off shore that we would of liked to the group wanted to fish the river,I explained that we fish the river only in the winter for cod etc and that they would not be there at this time of the year,So we came up with a plan to fish the river and if the wind decreased we would try to get up the channel for some smooth hound fishing. We left the marina at 7.00am to find the wind blowing 28kts wnw.we headed up the river to let the lads see why we could not go in the channel to be greated with some nice rollers,So we returned to a mark in the river where we stayed until 11.30 am.catching very small whiting .The wind had now eased to17kts wnw so we headed up the channel we could not understand why 5 of the lads where suffering so much until they addmitted they stayed up drinking until 1.30am ( the moral of the story dont have a session the night before a fishing trip ) the groan of the day went to Mark jones who booked the trip for the loudest grunts of the day back to the fishing whiting dabs and smoothhound to 6lb 5 oz Overall the banter did not stop alLday even while some where lining up for a bed in sick bay up the front.
