We left the marina at around 10:30am with a slight breeze blowing. We knew that at first it would be choppy, but as the day went on it would flatten. As we were half way to the first mark, Alan decided to start chumming early. When we arrived at the mark the anchor was dropped and everybody started to fish for mackeral. After a while the first of the day were brought in and after that you couldnt even get the lines to the bottom. Joeys and Jumbo mackeral came in their hundreds.
After plenty of mackeral had been brought aboard "H" decided to have a second go at catching his first and elusive Tope. The waiting finally paid off when a good few knocks on his rod and "H" hooked into his first Tope, that took off like a missile. With a few hints and tips and the dive lift lowered it was time to bring it in. When it surfaced you could see that it was nice fish. Once it was brought aboard "H" had is photos taken with it and it was weighed in the sling. The final weight was 32lb, not bad for his first ever Tope. Whilst the photos were being taken Daz, hooked into another Tope which made a very fast run away from the boat. Managing to turn the tope it proceeded back towards the boat and took a very fast dive which snapped the line. The guys who were standing next to daz as he was fighting it, said it was visibly twice the size of the one boat, when they saw it on the surface next to the boat.
With a few hours left we decided to head to a mark closer to home to go for SmoothHound, and it didnt take long for Alan to Catch a nice 6lb Starry Smooth Hound.(Even though he had spent most of the day cleaning the deck fast asleep at the front of the boat). We then moved in for Flatties, which we got straight away with a lot of nice keepers. A small codling was also brought aboard, which was good to see. Amongst the other things caught during the day were mackeral, doggies, whiting, dabs, weevers, smooth hound, codling etc.

After yesterday's success I took the chaps to the same mark as yesterdays crew and it looked promising as young James pulled a 6lb Thornback in first cast. A couple of lost Smoothounds and a few Dogfish were all the action we had after that so made a move to another mark and ended up with around 10 more Hounds to 13lb 8oz and 4 more Thornbacks to 9.5lb as well as more Dogs.
Well fished chaps, hope to see you again at some point in the future! Cheers -

May Catch Report.

With the wind coming from the North and East the sea has been far from settled with a Northerly swell for the best part of May.
As a result of the unsettled weather it has been a real challenge to get out and when we have managed to get out the clarity of the water has been poor.
Despite the poor start to the season the Civil Service Angling Club fished their qualifying competition out of Amble and Managed to catch 64 Codlings,15 Pouting,6 wrasse,,3 Coalfish and 1 Scorpion fish.
The Competition was a points Competition run under the NFSA rules with all unwanted fish being returned alive. The Three Anglers to Qualify were Chris Wilkinson, John Cuthbertson And Ian Mitchell who will go onto the National final at Milford Haven.
Mark Flowers And his Anglers had a good day with each angler catching 6 codlings on average, Nothing really big but all were a good stamp of fish between 4lb to 6lb.
The biggest Codling in May was 7.5 lb caught by Doug Hutchinson from Carlisle (see photo).
The best Pollock in May was 9lb caught by Jason Hudson (see photo) who also had a Catfish around 5lb -

Other trips have included plenty of good double figure huss , thornback rays over a dozen caught this week I think they are making a come back, gurnard ,dabs ,whiting , not too many dogs plus plenty of small mackerel .Plenty of tope as well
Yesterdays trip had a small group of friends from the north west boarded the Supreme at 11am a short 7 minute steam had us anchored over the Smoothound and bass mark .
90 minutes later we were on the move having landed 28 Smoothound .The quarry this time was to be the hard fighting tope but unfortunately nobody told the tope after 3 moves non had been caught so the decision was made to move onto another mark for smoothies and bass .
Paul tired arse Baker was first in with a couple of small bass then the double figure smoothies came on to nail the baits with some nice fish coming to the boat.
Fantastic weather , great crew plenty of craic and excellent inshore fishing.

Report on-board Mistress
With only two people booked on today we had a go at the inshore fishing. We found the water still a little coloured, but we had a show of good quality fish. The biggest was pushing double figures. Cod, Ling, Whiting and Pouting were caught on a mixture of bait and shads. The fish dont half fight hard in shallow ater and on light tackle!
