    Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3

The cod fishing was starting to come good then nature intervenes and thanks to Hurricane Barney we have had 2 weeks of severe winds where even the protection afforded by Poole Harbour has meant being tied up waiting for a weather window, in the meantime the tackle box is immaculate, new cod traces ready to go and a very tidy boat. When the winds drop I will be going to sea if you are free and would like to go Cod fishing then please call

    Report on-board Excel 2

Well, not a lot to report really !
It seems to be the longest spell of windy weather we've had in my 12 years of chartering. The few times that we have ventured out we have found good numbers of Thornbacks and congers, great fun on balanced tackle.
The cod have been elusive, odd ones to the boat but not much to report.
Hopefully as this wind eases up and it gets colder we should have some proper winter fishing with lunker cod and tasty Whiting.
The dog will be pleased when we go fishing, I've almost worn his legs away, he was a Doberman !

Diary is open for Spring/Summer 2016 bookings.

    Keep it tight,
    Dave.

    Report on-board Silver Spray II

As you can imagine I haven't really got a whole lot to report about the last months activities except about the weather. Not sure I can remember a sustained period of high winds like this for such a long time. Although it finally looking like backing off to the north this weekend and then dying down. Despite all this though we have managed half a dozen trips over to the Isle of White for cod and whiting. Cod have been coming up every trip into the mid teens which is nice to see. As November pushes on, provided we can get out to them, we should start to see those 20lb+ fish. The whiting have made a great start as well, using mackerel baits 2/0 hooks around slack water we are getting plenty of them at the 2lb plus mark. Hopefully next month we have done a few more trips and will have more to chat about.

  • 11/2015 Fishing Report by LESTER BAKER on Seawatch1 (Brightlingsea, Essex)

    Nov 2015 by LESTER BAKER

    Report on-board Seawatch1

October finished as it started and saw some nice catches of cod to seven pounds and Thornbacks to double figures, although most of my customers more interested in the codling.
The 1st and 2nd of November were flat calm with dense fog (the sort of weather we used to enjoy at this time of year) and then it was back to normal with some unsettled weather and severe winds courtesy of the jet stream and our Caribbean friends Abigail and Kate.It seems a long while since we went fishing, but the couple of trips we managed last week saw the fishing still the same with some nice codling being caught averaging 20 fish per trip along with the normal Ray's,dogfish and hordes of whiting.
Hopefully the weather will settle down and allow us to put a few trips together soon and start to clear the backlog of cancelled trips,2016 weekends looking busy already so don't leave your bookings to late or you may be disappointed.
    All the best Lester

15 Nov 2015 by jon old

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

This report covers the weekend of 14th/15th Nov 2016, a very windy day gusts of 54mph westerly today so hugged the shore both days as you can imagine. Lucky for us on west ,south west we can hide up under the cliffs so still able to get a day in . Only 3 boats out Sat no codling for any of us just whiting stealing all the baits, some spotty dogs of all sizes among them, few flatties over slack water and the odd pouting. Plenty of fish just the wrong sort. Sunday ended up much the same apart from the extremely windy conditions just 2 boats from Yarmouth were out today same old whiting all day, few better dogs as well, best fish of the day fell to Jeff Ball 6.3lb thornback ray pictured here ,nice to see probably about as the water temperature 13 degrees still! The other boat Seaquest had one cod only one today unfortunately need that cold weather to start coming in we are mid november for petes sake! Big thanks to everyone for the weekend especially Keith,Richard and Howard coming all the way from Brentwood, also Derek for organising everyone and Jeff for best fish of the day. Looking ahead to Tues 17th got few places left hopefully wind will drop give us a chance to get out a bit to have a look around further off until then tight lines everyone keep you all posted.
    Cheers. Jon. (High Flyer)

  • 10/2015 Fishing Report by Gethyn Owen on My Way 2 (Holyhead, Isle of Anglesey)

    Oct 2015 by Gethyn Owen

    Report on-board My Way 2

Our first trips in October saw us fishing around Holyhead bay for a selection of species. One day with a great mix of novice and experienced anglers we had a species and fun filled day. After landing plenty of whiting on the big spring tide, we hooked up larger traces and concentrated on bigger species.

With everyone catching a good number of huss, it was Ned who managed to come out on top during his first trip with a cracking inshore tope. The tope screamed line from Neds reel and gave him a fantastic fight for an awesome introduction to angling.

The drifting around the coast through October has been good fun, plenty of wrasse and pollack, sadly though the latter despite touching 4 to 5 lb not quite reaching the 8lbrs of previous seasons. It’s been a funny season when drifting, all or nothing on some days.

Light tackle drifting in shallow water, awesome fun

As previously mentioned, the whiting have been in abundance. triple shots on most drops to general scratch rigs, with some of the whiting touching 1 1/2lb and a great sized for the pot. Whiting also make an exceptional bait for a host of larger species, huss, ray and spurdog in particular all love a chunk of whiting to chew on. Rays turning up on a few marks in Trearddur Bay during October

Wirral based club OXTON-RAFA had a great tripped October, sticking inshore plenty of species once again, with some anglers managing to snare a few firsts and new huss pb’s along the way. With a mixed bag of LFC fans, Toffees, joined by a Leeds and a ManUre fan, you can guess it was laugh a minute with far too many unprintable comments being made, lol.

When joined by angling double act Thrussell & Thrussell, the cameras would be out in full force. Mike snr taking a snap of Mike jnr with friend Tom Wain on a blustery inshore day

The remainder of the month followed in a similar fashion. Sadly weather only allowed us travel to Holyhead Deep in search of the early Autumn spurdogs on one occasion, but we never missed out with plenty of species inshore and some extremely good drifting and also huss fishing at anchor.

our best day saw 5 anglers boating the best part of 90 cod, awesome angling, the best bag went 64lb for local Mistress angler Alex Leadley. the same day also produced two further 50lb bags for anglers onboard.

Yesterday also saw another good Cod hit the decks, just a couple of ounces under 10lb!

  • 08/11/2015 Fishing Report by Les Jones on White Maiden II (Lymington, Hampshire)

8 Nov 2015 by Les Jones

    Report on-board White Maiden II

Lymington SAC sponsored by Lonis Angling Center on Sunday was fished by 66 entrants all hoping to get their hands on the £400 first prize for the single biggest Cod. We were restricted to the Solent due to Strong Winds from the South South West. The sea was comfortable throughout. Some boats found up to nine Cod. The England Boat team members fishing with me on White Maiden included Ray Baron, Matt Osborne, Martin Ash Currier and Current World Boat Champion Gary Galbraith. Note his world champ story can be found at http://www.anglingtrust.net/news.asp?section=926&itemid=2747. Gary was up-tiding and kicked off in form latching into a near double figure Cod early on. I thought we were in for a lot of fish. How wrong was I.... as the Cod stopped there for us. Gary weighed in third biggest for third place. Meanwhile Skipper Jeff Semple on 'Lazy Daze', fishing just to the East of us, cleaned up with a last minute 12lb Cod, added to one of Tim's Cod for a 19.5lb combined weight to take the pairs. Also Whacjker had 4th and Tim 5th biggest Cod. So between the two charter boats we had 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th biggest Cod caught on the day! Skipper John Skeggs on 'Last Laugh', just to the South of us, also did fantastically well again, for the best total boat weight of Cod caught on the day. Not sure that will happen again, as the dinghy boys will get their own back next year. Lee Price on his part share 20' boat/dinghy did very well and secured second place with his best Cod of a nine Cod and four Bass haul. Great competition again Lymington SAC with some good prizes put up by main Sponsor Lonis Angling Center's Garry Mann.

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Not much fishing done this week due to the weather.

But we are due to sail on Saturday, as we have quite a few Thornback Ray's in the river at the moment, and some reasonable Codling, along with quite a lot of Whiting and some very nice Dabs..!! nice to see them making a come back.

So not much to report this week, but hopefully report back after Saturday's charter.. ... Tight lines..!!!
