    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Bringing us up to date till 18th October 2015 been very lucky with some early codling making a show not in great numbers but very welcome. Slight problem has been vast shoals of very hungry whiting been a nightmare trying to keep a bait down. I shouldnt moan about loads of fish but i am! Few decent kepers among them also keeping people very busy so smiles all round. Soon as a bit of cold appears i would imagine the codling will arrive in numbers again so hopefully not too long. Still getting the odd smoothound on there way out sort of crossover period at the moment ,pictured today Sarah from our last trip having caught within only a few minutes having arrived at our spot. Couple of pouting nice to see so close in few dabs and those spotty dogs still hanging on today but only one codling today on the ebb i think they were there just didnt get a chance before the whiting! Tides picking up rest of the week after few bass for this wed 21st few places left if you fancy a trip of some places available at weekend for once due to a cancellation should that suit better. Well having lost Sat 17th due to strong winds the Sun proved non stop action unfortunately from whiting and not codling but was a most enjoyable day, big thanks to Barrys crowd also Matt and Dave joining us looking forward to the next one. Until then tight lines everyone.
    Cheers Jon. (High Flyer)

  • 19/10/2015 Fishing Report by Philip Higgins on Mistress Linda / San Gina3 (Poole, Dorset)

19 Oct 2015 by Philip Higgins

    Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3

The plaice fishing last week was absolutely brilliant with over 200 caught in 3 sessions, although mainly on the small to medium size they give a good sport on the right gear add in Dabs, Gurnards, Red Mullet, Garfish, Smoothhounds it all adds up to great days fishing. Whiting are starting to appear in numbers and after the run of Codling we have had the bigger fish will soon be here. Some good size Bass have been landed. Most of our fishing once November starts will be concentrated on Cod and Whiting so if you fancy a day afloat call to reserve a space.
    All the best

  • 09/2015 Fishing Report by Gethyn Owen on My Way 2 (Holyhead, Isle of Anglesey)

    Sep 2015 by Gethyn Owen

    Report on-board My Way 2

September was another great month to get afloat aboard My Way. Weather permitting we had some great fun fishing both inshore and off towards a selection of areas around Holyhead Deep.

Our first day afloat in September had the weather restrict play and keep us inshore, a great mixed day was still had with a selection of species on the drift and at anchor with Anthony pulling in his best pollack, topping the scales at just short of 6lb. Many smaller pollack and an assortment of different wrasse were also caught with bull huss helping out in the double figure stakes.

The next few days we had weather and tides to head off to Holyhead Deep, September in the Deeps is not as predictable as other months. Ideally tope, spurs and huss all in good number is what we’re looking for.

This time thought the tope were thin on the ground, we managed to catch a few over our time in Holyhead Deep with Luke and Keith both catching 30lb plus tope for their first ever.

The inshore fishing is always hot this time of year, I particularly enjoy drifting under the rocks using light tackle for pollack and wrasse with the chances of codling, mackerel, herring and others. The shallow water and light leads used, help offer some great sport from the many fish available around our coastline. Colours and sizes of wrasse in particular vary greatly, and you never quite know what you’re going to see.

Sadly the wrasse appear to be a little smaller than what we would normally see for September, expecting fish to be reaching the 4 to 5lb mark on a regular basis, I think the majority have averaged 2 to 3 lb with very few going over 4lb, however, still great sporting fun.

Scattered amongst hee breezy days were a good number of days with settled seas and sunshine. The inshore fishing was a great mixed bag of smaller species to double figure beauties such as huss, rays and tope.

Earlier we mentioned the ballan wrasse, when drifting many anglers are looking for a cuckoo wrasse, possibly the most colourful species of fish we have around British coast. Although obviously one species, with the female and male cuckoo wrasse looking strikingly different in colour, a tick against both is often a requirement in any fishing calendar.

  • 10/2015 Fishing Report by LESTER BAKER on Seawatch1 (Brightlingsea, Essex)

    Oct 2015 by LESTER BAKER

    Report on-board Seawatch1

It's no great secret that the codling started early this year in the Thames estuary and catches are increasing every trip now with some very nice fish in the 3 to 6 lb bracket along with the odd bigger fish. Here on Seawatch we have been getting our fair share of them, our last trip on Sunday saw just three anglers who had hired the whole boat for themselves share a catch of 30 plump codling and 9 rays to 7lb along with lots of whiting and the obligatory dogfish.
Only a couple of weekend dates available before Christmas and starting to take bookings for 2016 so book sooner rather than later or else you could miss out on what looks like the best cod season on this coast for quite a few years.
    All the best Lester

  • 18/10/2015 Fishing Report by TERRY BATT on Vanishing Point-2 (Bradwell Marina, Essex)

18 Oct 2015 by TERRY BATT

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Hi everyone... as usual the weather on Friday 16th Oct was very unsettled and very windy, we left Bradwell at 0645 and there was something very strange,,, it was pitch black...!!!! I remember thinking to myself, well winter is really here, soon we will be going out in the darkness, and returning in the dark,
Well needless to say we didn't venture very far, as the strong winds depicted as to where we could fish... THE RIVER..!! but after Wednesdays successful day I was not too worried about the prospect of the river knowing now, there are some very good fish to be had.
I was well pleased at all the deck lighting I had installed in April this year, so the entire deck area of Vanishing Point 2 is very well lit, it looked like a floating aircraft runway... lol..
But we got to our fishing mark in less than 5 minutes, and started fishing, we had the usual Whiting, a few doggies, then we started to get the lovely size Codling coming through.
Over the course of the day we racked up around 15 Codling, and a few Skate, and another angling boat out of West Mersea
( Saucerer) with skipper Ray on a jolly by himself, called me and said he had 10 Codling all by himself, and he only fished up until high water then went in, but great fishing in just a few short hours..!!!
Well on Saturday 17 th Oct, the weather had moderated somewhat, but I choose to have the first hour in the river once again as I didn't want to waste valuable ebb tide steaming, I would wait until slack water before moving East off of Clacton, when we did arrive in the Clacton area, and stetted, the wind and tide were almost together, and we all sat there very comfortable, and the fish started coming over the side nice and steady.
I must admit my heart went into my mouth when I had dropped my anchor, as I had seen " Carl on HARD LABOUR" just South of where I wanted to fish, and as all of us do, is not to infringe on another skipper space...... but after I had dropped that anchor, I was horrified to see Carl's boat out of my rear wheelhouse door...!! argh.. I thought dam it I'm on his line, but on reflection we were not into tide more laying to wind, but I did call Carl and said once we were into tide properly if I was too close on his line I would of course move and show him the professional respect you would expect yourself... but once the tide started to run, all boats pulled into tide and we were miles apart..!! phew..
We did have some great fishing with Codling up to 9 lbs and Roker to 7 lbs so all our guys went home as we like... very happy..!!!.
    Sunday 18th October.....
Well once again we departed Bradwell at 0700 sharp, this time we went direct to our fishing mark to get settled before all other boats descended upon us, and we kind of new we wouldn't get a great deal on the last of the ebb. but we would be set up ready for the flood...!!! and it panned out as predicted, we were the first vessel on site, so we choose our mark very carefully, and once settled, within 2 hours I counted 12 other various boats around us, so we were right to leave a tadd earlier...
Well once we started to fish we did get Whiting doggies and right at the bottom of the tide we had our first plump Codling... and when the tide started picking up all the boys we catching on Lug and squid cocktails, we had 4 or 5 decent Roker in the mix, and
Glenn who booked the trip said the wanted a double figure Cod, and he is a mustard angler I must say, and he was rewarded with just such a fish, a nice 10lbs Cod shame it had a few sours ..and right at the end of the session, he said.." I want just one more" and sure enough as the engines were fired up..... yap he got his last Codling around 4 lbs, so with all rods in. anchor stowed, we started our cruise home not rushing, as they had a lot of filleting to do, with as usual Nicola on hand to do a lot of their gutting and filleting for them... ah...!! she is a good girl, who, as I'm sure the boys would agree.....
Ok guys n Gal's that's it for now, if you want to get in on the action just Pick up the phone and book it...!! if you want to see what dates are available, either whole boat bookings, or individual places, look on CBUK. or just phone me on 07768306646........Tight lines

sure enough first go a 10lbs ling, next go 11lbs cod. nice fish considering the crappy conditions.
