Saturday I had the Post Office boys out for their annual comp- They caught well over 250 fish... Not bad in one day trip. The cod proved a bit elusive, but Alan Managed a nice one right at the end. Fish caught were Whiting, Dogs, pout and dabs and of course Cod.
Sunday anglers seemed to attract dogs, dogs and more dogs.. a couple of cod on each mark but the dogs were a real pain.

Some breezy conditions the other day hindering the operations somewhat. A mixed group of lads ( from the North of the country ) did fish well however with cod to just under 9lb and ling to 14lb.
The tides at present are enormous and aren't much good for the wrecking here at Whitby. The wind has also been a little on the stiff side this last few days so we've been hard at work back on land.
Next trip away on the boat is this coming Sunday ( weather permitting ) with another mixed group.
Finger crossed for the weather to get back off shore again!!
All the winds this last week have been from the prevailing West/ Southwest so the water will definately be like gin for us out there, so hopefully we'll be back amongst the big cod!!

NOVEMBER 2012 - The Flamer IV annual Ballan Wrasse competition produced a variety of colourful Ballan's in many sizes.The Wrasse were taken on crab,ragworm and prawn baits.A few Personal Bests were set and broken during the day with fish of 4 and 5Ib plus.Terry Hickman who had never fished for Ballan Wrasse before did perticularly well and won the Competition with a Ballan weighing in at 5Ib 14oz.Jon Trevett was Runner Up with his PB Ballan weighing 5Ib.In Third place was David Colclough with his pb Ballan weighing 4Ib 12oz. Pictured is Competition Winner Terry Hickman with his now Personal Best Ballan weighing 5Ib 14oz. Next years Ballan Wrasse competition date is November 10th.

Its the uptiding festival this week and its fishing well had the lads on from boat fishing monthly dave baram and jim midgeley and it was jim who thought he had hooked the £1000 winner for the week its a cod only comp but there is a prize for the biggist any other species i think jim thought that he had hooked the winner over the week but it turned out to be a ling it went just onces under 20lb caught in 60ft of water did it fight very well done jim.

The lads from Greene King Brewery came out with us today, some been before, nice bunch of lads and all sober! Tide dictated where we went as usual, ended up North Roads on the ebb, First cod went to Dave as usual, next cod to birthday boy Russel and our last cod to Matt. The rest unfortunately had to put up with whiting, nice size ones for time of year. on slack water we up anchor and tried the Bank, bit lumpy , no flatties there couldnt understand it, just whiting again!. On the start of the flood headed inshore off a little mark inside ended up with few flatties, and more whiting ,no more cod on the flood. Big thanks to Tom for all his effort in organizing, much appreciated, Dan,Nick,Matt,Adam,Adi,Dan,Dean,and Russel and Dave for crewing. Thanks for the day men, hope you didnt get into trouble for being home late! Blame me. Hope to see you guys night fishing soon. All the best. Jon.

Weekend on the 10th / 11th November 2012 saw two of days wrecking.
Saturdys weather was fresh but was comfortable and the fishing consisted of lures used being Bazwinders, Red Gills.
Fish were mainly in the range of pollock 6/8lb huge pout, bass upt to 4lb.
The lads caught Pollock, Cod, Bass, Whiting and Pout.
Sunday was calmer weather and same tactics used with fish being caught, Pollock Cod, whititng, Pouting and a surprise Haddock.
Fish were mainly in the range of pollock 6/8lb, Cod 8/12lb huge pout, bass up to 4.5lb. And a few larger fish from which photos are of.
All in all a great fun enjoyable weekend with two great crowds of anglers and hopefully all satisfied and happy customers. View Boats Page

Bit lumpy this morning so kept inside the n/roads with fish from the start it proved to be a good day for Karl,Dave,Dan,&Berny with 8 cod to 6lb and lost count how many whiting that we kept, ebb tide fished very well with the flood bringing in a bit of weed,we have got our first fish in the competion iam sure this will be beat as the season goes on so dont miss out on the chance of winning a £100, BP.

The mesey is fishing quite well now with cod 3 to 10lb+showing.There are plenty of nice sizeable whiting along with dabs and rays.The fishing should really pick up from the middle of Nov so things are looking good for the season.

headed out on a lovely morning with 2 anglers on board to a favoured mark with fish from the off and steadily throughout the day end up with over 100 big whiting and many more thrown back 3 cod to 3.5lb should have been 2 more but they bounced off on the way up and a few dabs a good day had by all View Boats Page

It would seem that the only time we report any of the trips we do is when we are having good days !!
We do occasionally have a "bummer" but it would seem that, at the moment, we are experiencing some cod fishing from the top drawer on the Shy-Torque !!
As predicted the water clarity off shore is very good indeed, with a lot of the fish taking the artificials. Shads, Sidewinders etc....
The bait is also working and is attracting a good number of ling.
Yesterday the weather was on our side again, and we returned to the same wrecks as last weekend and scored well again. Cod to 14lb on the boat with a lot of upper single weights as well.
I have to admit that I made a complete boob today by cancelling the lads when we could have sailed. Sorry chaps. Big mistake!!!
