Report on-board She Likes It Rough 2
The fine settled weather we have been having lately saw Easter weekend being a busy time for us. Fishing was excellent with good numbers of Roker showing up landing well over 40 fish on two trips. Most fish are in the 4-7lb range the biggest this weekend went 11lb with another 2 or 3 just over the 10lb mark, With Fresh frozen Herring and Squid being the top bait for these.

We also saw our first proper Bass of the season with a lovely 8lb 4oz specimen caught by Roger Finbo from Sproughton.
Another sign summer is on its way is the first signs of the Smoothounds turning up. We had 8 over the weekend nothing big the biggest being 6lb once these turn up in nunbers these are great fighting sportfish on the right light tackle set up. -

Report on-board Shy-Torque III
The April competition has just come to an end with some cracking weather making for a great couple of weeks here in Whitby. We on the Shy-Torque tried our best as always in these events but couldn't manage the big one. Our best fish in this comp being a ling of 12lb and a few ounces, some 3lb short of the overall winner. Never the less everyone who entered with us had a great time and enjoyed some good fishing. A good few daily prizes were won with us also. We'd like to thank all those who fished with us in this years event and hope to see you all again soon. Maybe you could have a crack at the big one in the Summer festival ( 18.06 - 10.07 ) Pictured is Terry Harrison from Halifax with a 1st daily prize winner of 10lb.

Report on-board Kellys Hero Charters
A good spell of sunny and settled weather in recent days has allowed us to get out onto the local reefs and banks.

Friday 22nd April we took out a local group of farmers and sons, some who had never stepped foot on a boat before. After a session of Mackerel catching the lads became fairly confident in rod handling so we ventured down to a reef for a spot of species hunting.
Species caught were:
Bull Huss
Dog Fish
Female Cuckoo Wrasse (returned Alive)
Pout whiting
Mackerel
Herring
Allice Shad (returned alive)

The reef fishing is a little slow at moment but sea temp is rising and the Congers will be snapping soon enough. Looking fwd to seeing regulars and new faces this year. Good Luck and tight lines, Pete Davis -

Fishing Report by Paul Smith
on Rapid Fisher (Poole, Dorset)
7 Apr 2011 by Paul Smith
Report on-board Rapid Fisher
With calm seas and blazing sunshine Rapid Fisher headed yet again for the famous Shambles Banks. A steady 22 knots saw us arrive at our spot fashionably early!! With the boat set up for the drift a tell tale nod on Dave's rod meant we were in the right spot. Sure enough after Dave giving the fish time to take his mackerel bait he lifted into a solid lump. A short fight ensued and the net was slipped under a fine fish. The scales read 20lbs which was the biggest Turbot for both Rapid Fisher & Dave!
View Boats Page
More drifts resulted in plenty of missed bites until Paul managed to connect with a reasonable fish. Carefully playing it to the net we all thought is was going to be another 20lber but luckily for Dave Paul's fish only weighed in at 15lbs! Several more double figure fish were netted throughout the drift bringing our tally to 10.
On the last drift a good 10lbers was netted when there was a shout from Gary saying he had hooked into a monster! Sure enough he expertly guided it to the waiting net hoping that it was a personal best. As you can see from his grin the fish indeed was a PB for both him & the boat weighing in at 23lbs.
As we headed for home with coffee in hand there was time to reflect over a successful days fishing. A 12 Turbot tally with 4 over 10lbs, a 15lber & 2 twenties made this a day to remember. -

Fishing Report by Gethyn Owen
on My Way 2 (Holyhead, Isle of Anglesey)

Report on-board My Way 2
After the joys of our previous April report that contained the words huss, spurdog and tope we have recently been brought back down from the giddy heights of early season double figure fish.
View Boats Page
With the neap tides abating we were left with the onset of 30ft plus springs and decisions on where to fish.
Fortunately the weather has remained good of late as a nice high pressure settled over much of the UK, looking at the various forecasts around this settled spell looks set to continue well into the Easter Holidays.
The fishing has been fairly consistent for the time of year with high yields of fish wherever we tend to go. Nothing has set the world alight or would really get the magazines to ‘stop press’, but never the less the anglers have been catching throughout our day’s afloat with a mixture of both sport and fish for the pot being taken.
Our fishing has varied with marks both in Holyhead Bay and around the coast in Trearddur Bay used at anchor and a variety of rock ledges in between for our drifting. Anchor work has seen numerous species including the ever present dogfish, dabs, plaice and codling being the main catches, along with plenty of small huss. The larger species have come by way of slightly bigger huss and a few thornback rays.
Drifting is starting to show more positive rewards inshore, especially with the numbers of wrasse for those wanting to drift closer to the sea bed. Other species include a good number of herring, pollack, codling and coalies. The latter 3 though not having too much weight to them, quantity wise there are plenty around, but with only the odd couple touching the 3lb mark, it’s fruitless to spend too long a time trying to catch them!!!
Every now and then we get a visit from the guys and gals at Trearddur Bay RNLI station. When not on a shout they are often seen around the bay training on various aspects of their voluntary duties.
A cup of tea and a slice of cake us is the least we can do for the efforts they put in on behalf of all sea uses.

Saturday saw the first 6 mackeral caught off the north side of Anglesey
The reefs are producing plenty of Pollack, Codling, Ballans, Cuckoes and Colies all between the 1-4lb mark with a couple of Codling hitting the 5-6lb mark.
Fishing at anchor inshore is producing plenty of Dogies, Codling, Dabs, Huss, Whiting and a couple plaice.
Sunday 17th April,
The reefs were a little harder on sunday but the quality of fish was a bit better with a fair amount of Coalies and Pollack around the 3lb mark but with no Mackeral cauht they are still hit and miss.
Anchor way the same as saturday plenty of fish caught.
Monday 18th April,
Had a 4 hour trip which was to fish over the slack water, plenty of Dogies, Codling, Dabs with a couple of Huss and Plaice also the first Smoothound of the year at 5lb hopefully a good thing and fingeres crossed the big Hounds turn up like recent years.
