Report on-board She Likes It Rough 2

This Past week or two seems to of been a change over time in the fishing year with the last of the spring run of Codling moving off and Roker and some early bass showing.
Last weekend saw us mainly landing some Roker up to 8lb and a few large Whiting and some spring codling in the 3lb range.
Wednesday’s trip for Trevor’s group saw us fishing the first part of the day for the last of the spring codling. We managed 6 all around the 5- 7lb range, the afternoon was Roker time with 6 Roker landed all in the 5- 9lb Range.
This Weekend saw us land nearly 30 Roker over the two days with Aaron, from the boys at Bidwells property consultants, Landing the biggest of the weekend, nudging the scales to just under 13lb. A good number of the fish were in the 6- 9lb range with a couple of other double figure fish caught and returned. Well done to all you guys who put all the females back and only kept the Male fish.
A Small Bass of around 2 LB was also landed just to show us that the summer species are not that far away.

17 Apr 2011 by Bob Marshall

    Report on-board Duke IV

The fishing has really turned on here at Ramsgate with the Thornbacks arriving inshore and the Cod on the offshore wrecks along with a sprinkling of Pollack. The Bass are heading around the coast on their annual migration north. We had a good catch of wreck Cod on Duke IV for the individuals thursday wrecking trip and followed up with Pauls group getting amongst the Cod and Pollack on the saturday. The weather has been kind too with sunshine and calm winds, very unusual for this time of year but very welcome. The fishing should continue to improve with the Smoothounds arrival, here one day gone the next!
Still some dates available on Duke IV but filling up fast, so get in quick and let us try and get you amongst the fish! Bob

  • 15/04/2011 Fishing Report by David Hancock on Excel 2 (Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire)

15 Apr 2011 by David Hancock

    Report on-board Excel 2

Despite the settled weather we`ve only done a few forays offshore to the wrecks. When we have the fishing has been great, lots of prime cods. It may be hard work but the rewards are worthwhile.
The majority of our trips have been inshore to the Famous Goodwin Sands where the Skate/Thornback Ray fishing has been outstanding as it is most springtimes. Nice relaxing easy fishing, just nail a chunk of Herring hard to the seabed and wait, usually not for long !

    Keep it Tight,

    Dave.

  • 14/04/2011 Fishing Report by Barry Handley on Malaki (Hayling Island, Hampshire)

14 Apr 2011 by Barry Handley

    Report on-board Malaki

Well here we are mid April and the fishing started, we just had three good weeks on the Plaice landing plenty
of fish around the 4Ib mark. Bream are patchy but they are being caught on Malaki we managed a total bag
of 29 a couple of days ago with fish to 3Ib, Fair play to the guys they put over half back. The very next day
we hit the smoothound upto 12.2Ibs. The early signs are good so perhaps there be plenty of tight lines
    out there this year.
The Picture opposite - Benn Watts a very keen young angler who in my opinion has the potential to become a world class angler thats if girls, racing bikes, etc. don't get in way, let's hope he gets his prioritys in order.
