doing very well . with Christine banging in the cod early on, mark eventually catching up a little. but did at the end taken a nice ling of 13lbs. which turned out to be the best on the day.
taken on one of about 8 suprise mackrel to be caught. as with all the dirty water and stirups thought they would be long gone,
but the waters cleaned up nicerly. with michael getting 3 cod on one drift alone on shads. also about 5 pollack taken
ended up with around 40 odd fish best cod around 7lbs
turned out a nice day all round

All 4 punters are paying today, no fish no pay was the stipulation so we started off well with few small hounds then moved for the skate and found them. We decided to head for some bass but the tide died so no joy untill the last minute when the cream rose to the top and the Skipper landed 6 lb silver bar happy days. Taking bookings for this Sunday 4 spaces left and spaces next week. For a perfect days fishing call Jason on 07966273650 or Dawn on 07854772314.

we caught 1 tope at 35lb,6 huss all around the 15lb mark and we hooked into and lost 3 common skate...one skate even snapped an 8/0 bronzed O'shaunessy hook!

Well its been a hard couple of weeks with extremely windy weather at the weekends typical when the boats full ! Lost last weekend totally home early Sat by 11 am , Sun was a no goer, this Sat 13th was 45 mph southerlys but managed today with 3 different forcasts all wrong ended up with a rather strong northerly . Why cant the weather people with all their technology just get it right here and there! Well basically picture today is of John Currie with a female roker returned, made a nice change from the whiting he was hauling in! We lost a decent fish that we never saw was right at the boat then gone shame really. All day to be honest was whiting of all sizes one or two nice ones plus doggies of all sizes kept us occupied unfortunately no codling for us today but still very warm water temp 15 degrees on finder not really cod water. Praying for some colder weather but not according to our friends at the weather centre were still holding on to our Indian summer so who knows . Will be out this coming Tues will see what we can find. Big thanks to all today very much enjoyed it good load of banter as usual and happy birthday to Dave Lumley appreciate you coming out on your special day. Tight Lines everyone.

A day of 2 halves we steamed out to windfarm looking for some silver slabs armed with 300 pukka worms, we couldn't get through the whiting and dogs and didn't seem to be any proper fish there. Crew took a group decision steam another 50 min and have a few skate. Dropped anchor and in no more than 5 min we had a double hook up a nice skate and a 5lb bass. after that the skate didn't stop coming, no monsters but for non sea anglers they were more than happy. Got to say a brilliant bunch of lads and will be seeing you again. Taking bookings onboard Lady Ann of Ramsgate ring Jason on 07966273650 or Dawn on 07854772314.

Report on-board Size Matters

The Summer 2018 season has now come to an end in Plymouth for Size Matters, we are now steaming north to Costa Del Liverpool for the winter Cod season on the mighty river Mersey.
Looking back over the 2018 season in Plymouth it’s been the best year for weather for many years.
Some days we where praying for bad weather just to get a day or two off for a rest, it’s not often a charter boat says that.
The fishing this year was very good for sharks,
our best day was 80 Blue Sharks in a day and a new boat record.
The wreck fishing on the drift for was good from April to July our best day was 93 Pollack, 21 Ling, 16 Coalfish , 3 Megrim and a Conger.
The Conger fishing was very poor compared to previous years, this was because we had two algae blooms this summer.
Normally we only get one in May but this year it happened in May and again in August, at times it was like red snot dripping from the line.
I have never seen it this bad before and I do truly believe when it settles on the sea bed it gets in the Congers gills and they don’t feed as much as they would normally.
Our best day on the Conger was 65 to 58lb and 6 Ling to 18lb in just 4 hours fishing.
Last year we out best day was 109 Conger to 63lb, 4 Ling to 28lb and 1 Cod 16lb.
All in 5 hours fishing, Nigel Mcloughlin from the British Conger Club was onboard that day and he said that was a very busy day!!
Also it was good to see so many John Dory’s, normally we only catch a few in a season but this year we managed 11 to 7lb!
New species this season on Size Matters,
Six Gill Sharks (Unofficial British Record),
Blue Skate (Unofficial British Record),
Blue Whiting, Atlantic Bonito Tuna and Megrim.
We caught over 40 species of fish this season if we done more species hunts we would get well over 50 a season.
We are now fully booked for 2019 from Plymouth and only have 16 days available for 2020.
It seem like a life time ago when I bought
Size Matters back in March 2016 and this was only our 3rd season in Plymouth, imagine what we are going to catch in the future!!!
Thanks
Kevin Mckie
