Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
The last 3 days fishing have been in strong North West then North and today in North East winds with some gusts up to 28 kts over the cliffs but the fishing has been exceptional for the time of year with 50 plus Plaice every day along with loads of big Garfish, Gurnards and a few Black and Gilthead Bream. The conditions under the cliffs with the wind in these directions affords us plenty of shelter and the anglers have enjoyed the fishing although breezy and cold the closeness to shore means it is calm. Once the weather settles our attention will turn to Cod and Whiting so wrap up warm and come and join us.

Few pics from the weekend of 20/21st Oct 2018 just plenty of whitting all day wherever we went, odd thornback still about with spotty dogs but not so many thank god! All the fish inshore couldnt catch a thing offshore complete waste of fuel and time. I presume everything is eating the shrimp on the beaches. Still patchy herring probably due to the water temperature of 14.5 degrees so no fresh bait at the mo. Bad forcast cold winds and snow for weekend with artic blast unfortunately we need it bring on the cod. Many thanks to everyone from the weekend was most enjoyable.Cheers Jon (High Flyer 2)UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD High Flyer 2

As we come to the end of our first week back on the mighty Mersey we take a quick look at the action......

The Cod river, well we have boated Codling on every trip albeit particularly small at the time being, this is mostly down to the current water temperature being a tad high. We have some cold weather due in this next 7-10 days which will no doubt bring some larger cod into the river.
The ray fishing has been good for the majority, best day bringing just shy of 30 to 5 rods, with one day only bringing 6, however we did sit out a few hours for a coddie or two.
Best fish of the week went to John Nicolas with a fine thornback ray of 11lb12oz, Plenty boated around 4-8lb.
Other catches included Dogfish, Whiting, Dabs and the odd crab
We'll be back next weekend on the cod hunt as the tides start to drop away -

This last weekend fished very well indeed for both Saturdays and Sundays teams.

We had a mixed group aboard the boat on Saturday. All regular anglers from as far afield as Birmingham and Barnsley. We fished a wreck around 17 miles to start the day off where the lads picked around 25 fish from it.
We moved back inshore a bit then, where the lads picked steadily for the rest of the day on the rough ground. Best rod on the day was Simon England from Leeds who ended up with 15 fish with a mixture of Cod, Ling, and Pollack.
Sunday saw a team of 7 taking the boat for the day. Phil Walker and his mates from around the Hornsea area joined us where we fished around the 9 mile ground for the first few hours with a steady picking of Cod and Ling being boated. With the forecast set to increase by mid afternoon we moved to a strip of ground on the 7 mile where we found some much better Cod and Ling. Cod to 11.5 lbs and Ling to 12 lbs were landed along with a good number of Pollack to just over 8 lb. A great days sport for all.
Sadly, the forecast is set to be rubbish all this week so time for a few maintenance jobs on the boat. Hopefully the weather will improve for next weeks anglers.
We do have some spaces left on a couple of the days.
Tuesday 30th October - Room for 4 anglers.
Thursday 1st November - Room for 4 anglers.
Cheers and tight lines as ever!

Fishing Report by Peter Mackintosh
on Mistress (Tyne, Tyne and Wear)

Report on-board Mistress
A cracking days fishing aboard Mistress. After a few mackerel drops, we headed north out of the river and fished a couple of wrecks. I didn't have much luck on hokkais, so I changed to a shad. The first cod I picked up was about 4lb. Then on the next drift I had a thumping bite from another cod, which weighed in at 16lb 8oz - a personal best. I continued the same tactics, landing another 8 cod around the 3 to 4lb. Matthew, a young lad fishing from a boat for the first time, changed to a shad. Following a bit of advice from the skipper, he started to land a few Cod himself. A great day, with everyone landing fish. Many thanks Tony.
