    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Report right up to date last trip 26th June Tuesday 2018, started off on the feathers lots of sandeels on the banks few gurnard and odd flatty. Had dozen or so mackerel lets hope its the start of them! Jumped over few wrecks no cod just odd coaley to our surprise usual pouting and whiting water not great viz yet on 15 mile mark. Ended up the day on inshore mark to produce couple small bass and cracking smoothound of 17lb 3oz pictured here caught by Gordon Popplewell using ragworm uptiding. Fish stayed deep till the end thought it was a tope to start when she surfaced. Lovely fish good weight for our area best we have had onboard our vessel so new record for us and a PB for Gordon. Released unharmed well done Gordon be a hard fish to beat for our area.
So looking ahead will be advertising few specialist tope trips soon as they appear also our night trips 6pm till midnight keep eye out for them also on Facebook under High Flyer Sea Fishing Trips too, until then tight lines people.
    Cheers Jon (High Flyer 2)

  • 06/2018 Fishing Report by Kevin McKie on Size Matters (Craobh Haven, Argyll & Bute)

    Jun 2018 by Kevin McKie

    Report on-board Size Matters

[This report was written when Size Matters was operating from Plymouth]

Just got back from another Guernsey trip, the plan was to fish 3 days but the weather had other ideas.

So I suggested to the lads we do 2 very long days fishing and then just steam home on the 3rd day when the weather not ideal for fishing.

All the lads where well up for it so I decided to fish a few marks I have never been to before, this turned out to be a very wise move.

We where straight into Pollack to 16lb,
Ling to 20lb 8oz, Cod to 5lb and Coalfish to 5lb. All the lads onboard caught there PB Pollack and Ling.

On the second day we decided to go for Bream first then have ago for Turbot.
Mackerel was hard to find but we just got enough for bait.

There was plenty of Bream about but all small, then we had ago for Turbot.
The first mark was very slow with just one small Turbot caught.

Then we moved to another other mark every drift the lads where catching Dogfish, things where not looking good.

Time for another move then it was third time lucky, first drift bingo a cracking Turbot
of 12lb 4oz for 66 year old Brain Bridger.

Brian’s son Steve had booked the trip for his Dad over a year ago, Steve told me on the phone my dad has never caught a Turbot before that’s why we wanted to give Guernsey ago.

We are now fully booked for the rest of 2018 from Plymouth.

If you are interested in booking a trip with us in 2019 from Plymouth we only have 8 days available.

We have now started taking bookings for 2020 Summer season from Plymouth.

    Thanks

  • 26/06/2018 Fishing Report by Colin De Block on Lead Us (Lowestoft, Suffolk)

26 Jun 2018 by Colin De Block

    Report on-board Lead Us

Lead Us charters, Lowestoft fishing trips

    Hounds abound on Lead Us
Following the success of Saturdays trip we headed back to the same mark anticipating similar results. Well we weren't disappointed with 5 hounds coming in on the first cast of the day just as the tide was dying away and a couple more at slack water. Things were quieter on the start of the ebb with the odd fish being landed, then mid tide it was if the switch had been thrown and things got hectic. On several occasions more than one fish was being landed at the same time this continued through the rest of the day with close on 50 hounds being landed most in the 5 to 7lb range with several fish being lost. To add to this great catch we had 4 Bass to 4lb plenty of whiting and a few spotties . A fantastic days fishing on Lead Us

  • 23/06/2018 Fishing Report by Jonathan Law on Privateer (Rhyl, Denbighshire)

23 Jun 2018 by Jonathan Law

    Report on-board Privateer

The Tope fishing has really taken off in Liverpool bay. Some tide is required and fresh mackerel. Then its just a matter of getting the boat positioned on their patrol routes.
Being part time, its good to take the opportunities when available and we sure did Saturday afternoon with 13 Tope taken in around 2 hours ! I lost count of the dropped runs, as the tide eased the fish got craftier but an excellent session with all the anglers getting in on the action.
Under the circumstances I only got the opportunity to weigh one fish, which weighed 49lb and it wasn't the heaviest boated. So its safe to say we are getting some excellent fish ... long may it continue and don't they fight in the shallow water .... make sure you set your clutches right :))))))

  • 26/06/2018 Fishing Report by Rich Cope on Mistress (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

26 Jun 2018 by Rich Cope

    Report on-board Mistress

What an absolutely fabulous day today here at Whitby on Mistress

West Cliff School chartered the whole boat to run a number of trips for year 6.
We ran 3, 3hour trips so we could get everyone to sea for the chance of a few fish.

We found plenty of fish for the 1st time anglers totalling 50-60 codlings and around 20 mackerel everyone had an awesome time.

Heres a big thank you to West Cliff for booking me again for the 3rd year running and giving me chance to put a smile on the kids faces.

If anyone's interested in running a similar group trip with large numbers of anglers I can source extra boat if needed too.
    Give me a call on 07977 436903 or e-mail seafishingwhitby@hotmail.co.uk

    Tight lines Rich
