Report on-board Causeway Boats
This last weekends small tides made for some good fishing conditions here at Portrush. We managed full day with a team from Belfast on Saturday. Sunday was the MET club. The lads also benefited from some lovely weather and we were able to get them amongst the fish really well.

We started on the ground on the inside marks for mackerel bait drop. After half an hour we decided to push off shore to a couple of wrecks I have which I knew hadn't been touched for a good month or so. The first wreck produced around 15 fish to 7lb and the second producing much better with around 25 fish with cod to just short of 10lb.
The lads were made up with the day for being fortunate enough to drop on great weather and great fishing.
Most of the fish were taken on the full squid and jelly's. -

We had a small break in the winds when we headed out so decided to give the inshore wrecks a quick go as we approched the first wreck we were greated by a flock of birds and a feeding minki whale which moved on as we approched.
All the anglers managed to catch, with a few managing to get a better fish.
Heaviest caught was a 13lb Ling with several been around 5 to 7lb.
After the trip a local pleasure boat brokedown so we assisted it back to the harbour.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Skylark

Fishing Report by Kevin McKie
on Size Matters (Craobh Haven, Argyll & Bute)

Report on-board Size Matters
ATTENTION ALL ANGLERS..
View Boats Page
Size Matters will be in Liverpool for the winter Cod season on the 20th October and will be available for charters from October 23rd to April 9th. Kevin will be fishing neap tides in the Mersey and Spring tides over the banks and channels in Liverpool Bay. Size Matters will be sailing from Liverpool Marina and most charters will be 9 to 10 hours depending on lock times each day. It has also been known for Kevin to stay out for up to 13 hours at no extra charge!!
ABOUT THE SKIPPER..
Kevin has over 30 years fishing experience and is a mad keen angler who lives for fishing.
He is so passionate about what he does,
to him it's not work it's a way of life.
Kevin is also a fishing guide for one of the UK's leading fishing holiday companies Sportquest and has been involved in many magazine articles both home and abroad.
He gets job satisfaction from putting his anglers on big fish and helping them catch their personal best fish.
LIVERPOOL..
Kevin is a born and bread scouser and he knows the Mersey like the back of his hand.
The best things about fishing in the winter from Liverpool you are fishing within 10 minutes of leaving the lock gates, you are fishing in well sheltered areas from the strong winds, you have the view of the world famous Liverpool water front just a few hundred yards away and best of all is the fishing. Last year our best day on the Cod was 64 keepers to 15lb 8oz, our best day on the Thornback rays was 56 to 13lb 5oz!!!
THE VESSEL SIZE MATTERS..
Please note Size Matters is 45ft in length and is 16ft wide. This provides a massive deck space and can easily accommodate 12 anglers in comfort, some anglers even bring fold out camp chairs there is that much room.
Cost for the whole boat charter is £450 maximum 12 anglers and individuals are £45 per person. All charters include top quality rod and reel hire, all your rigs, weights and hot drinks. Bait can be arranged if you need it, black lug is £3 per pack of 10, squid is in 1lb boxes and costs £4 per box.
ONBOARD FACILITIES..
We do not do food just quality fishing charters but there is a microwave and kettle onboard if you would like to use them.
The wheelhouse can seat up to 10 anglers and is fully heated; perfect if it's a wet cold winter day or night to dry out and warm up.
There is heated and spacious toilet facilities you can use at your convenience, but must be kept clean at all times.
If you want to keep your catch for the table Kevin will professionally fillet it so you don't have to do it when you get home after a long day at sea.

Fishing Report by Bob Marshall
on Duke IV (Ramsgate, Kent)
27 Jul 2017 by Bob Marshall
Report on-board Duke IV
Started the day with live Shrimp bait that we are able to get catching 4 Smoothounds to 7lbs. As the bite slowed we moved to the edge of the bank drifting with the tide for mackerel, although slow due to the misty water we caught about 20 along with couple of Bass.
View Boats Page
With enough for bait we moved to the other side of the bank and fished for Skate landing 5 to 7lb and Terry caught a good Bass on mackerel chunk. A good day fishing catching the species we were after at each spot.We will put you on the fish, you can then catch em. Pic shows group shot with some of today's catch. -

Great day out on My Way Gethyn Owen a star again, little lesson for people booking charters trust the skipper not the forecast, weather forecast rain with increasing wind, call to Gethyn night before “yes where out boys but let’s see how it pans out but will put you on the fish”.
WHAT A DAY, yes a small shower wind didn’t materialize drifts brought Pollock, codling, poor cod, pouting, cuckoo wrasse ( thanks Gethyn for the rig) Ballan wrasse, long spined scorpion fish and mackerel (some Stonkers), with fresh mackerel onboard and no sign of the wind Gethyn decides to make a run for the deeps.
Inspired choice everybody caught tope and huss with a few spurdogs thrown in for good measure, a really top day with a skipper that knows his stuff. Halton SAC trip with special guest and a star to fish with Tom Murphy.
Icing on the cake Ronald won a Greys 20lb class rod and Abu 7000 reel, as it was one of Gethyns sponsored two day boat comps happy days, big thanks for a top day to Gethyn Owen
