Report on-board Four Reasons
Despite adverse weather conditions Richie managed to put us on a few fish. We weren't lucky enough to fish the wrecks {due to the winds} but hopefully we will next time. It was our first time out on Four Reasons but it won't be our last. Richie and his son Luke are very knowledgeable and always took time out to help all the anglers out. the hot drinks were more than welcome as were the tasty bacon butties. See you soon.

Not been the greatest summer to be honest all these lows we been having have affected the whole country. I think we have deserved every fish the anglers have worked hard most trips not been easy. Bit of good news we picked up half dozen small codling inshore on a wreck lets hope this winter is a cold one to bring our water temperature down to normal god knows we need it, also we are seeing lot more school bass not worth a picture but great to see our future sport probably down to the drift netting ban giving them half a chance. We will be going for a few mackerel when we can weather allowing, bass on the banks hopefully few nice tope we need to beat the 50lb mark this season so heres waiting! Unfortunately the whiting are showing up again but adds to the sport small influx of skate inside nice to get a few. Well done to everyone this year we have kept only 1 bass so far this season great to see conservation and most female skate been thrown back as well. It all helps. Looking forward to this weekend as weaker tides hopefully light winds bit of drifting i think on the banks see what we can find.

The last fortnight has seen some unsettled weather but the fishing has been excellent.

There are a lot more Smoothounds around and plenty of them are over 10lb, sport has been hectic at times with multiple hook ups and screaming reels !!. These fish are the move all the time while feeding and when hooked they charge off like a train, great fun.
There have been some nice Bass around, more than last year with quite a few doubles reported and plenty returned alive, most days we are seeing at least one good Bass and some days 3 or 4, most fall for a squid bait but a fresh or frozen mackerel chunk works well.
Talking of mackerel, we have had a lot at times with anglers getting full strings every drop but as always with mackerel fishing you can go to the same spot next day and nothing, they have moved again but great fun while it lasts.
There are a lot more Thornbacks moving back in to all areas offshore, these summer fish are really pulling in the clear water and are much more fun than when caught in coloured water, sometimes it is a job to tell them from other fish if the tide is not running.
There have been a few more Stingrays caught this year than in recent years, possibly because of less commercial activity, most are caught on ragworm, mackerel or squid.
Prospects are excellent, September is our best month for Bass fishing when we can actually target them more effectively as they shoal up before leaving us for the year, the hounds will stay around until well into October and there will be good numbers of thornbacks. -

Last weekend saw us venture offshore to go after the sporting Bass and from the 1st drift quality Bass came aboard in good numbers of which in line with current regs all bar 1 per person were returned. As the tide eased we moved inshore to target Trigger fish and as the day started we were immediately into them with the 1st being landed within 2 minutes of anchoring.

The wind stayed away for our first trip in a week. Didn't start too well with a complete blank on our mackerel hunt to start the day. So off we went further out to find them and we did, not a great deal of them around but plenty for our next planned stop looking for bull hus and smoothies. We Also caught tub gurnard weaver and doggies. So off we went to find them.
