Headed out on the banks today been very windy last week weather not great, had bit of a stir up. The mackerel and sandeels were not having it today just managed few whiting on the feathers. After anchoring up our first bass came in to Duncan of 5lb followed by a move then 7lb to Emily first bass for her. To top it off Mandy with a cracking 9lb all fish returned nice to see a bit of conservation. Finished the day off inshore ended up with a couple small roker Fern and Mandy hooking up was a ladies day today lads outfished. With a huge great downpour thunder and lightening we headed in earlier than usual, great day all round, big thanks to all today especially Louise for organising everyone, looking forward to the next time,

Fishing Report by Nigel Lihou
on Optimist (Brixham, Devon)
3 Aug 2017 by Nigel Lihou
Report on-board Optimist
Nigel Skipper of Optimist has now been accredited by the SSACN as a bonafide tagger of Elasmobranchs, (Sharks and Rays). We will therefore start to offer Sharking trips for a maximum of 4 persons and depending on Chum availability (the mackerel have been pretty scarce this year). If you fancy a day of Shark fishing on a catch, photo, Tag and release basis then please call for details. Nigel as far as he is aware is the only Tagger based in Brixham. We look forward to some Awesome fishing and being part of a national Elasmobranch research program. We will as part of the program continue to target Ray and Bull Huss and Hounds on our usual trips to the Banks and reefs.

The wrecks at the moment are inconsistent sometimes producing some good Pollack along with the inevitable Pouting, there have been some good days and some bad days during July as we never know whether the wreck has been netted the night before, but as always we try our best to put groups on the fish, the Pollack seem to be taking on the drop and care has to be taken not to get snagged up in the wreck as a few of regulars have found out.
The banks are fishing much better and we have seen some lovely plaice, Ray, Turbot and Brill even Bass although mainly undersize bass all on the drift which seems to work better than at anchor. On particularly bad weather / wind days we have targeted an inshore reef tucked in behind a headland at anchor we have seen some good Bull Huss along with Thornback Ray and Conger . With the summer the way it has been we are doing our best not to have to cancel but with winds of force 5 and 6 it is not that comfortable.

Great sport this weekend, blustery & drizzly rain on 15th with 16th a complete contrast with little wind, blue skies and gorgeous sunshine.

Good fishing all round with huss and tope the larger species at anchor and a plentiful amount of wrasse and small pollack on the light tackle drifting both days.
And I finally managed to photograph a puffin floating around South Stack from the boat, result albeit from a distance.

BOOK NOW FOR 2018
I have put up an Itinerary of trips for 2018 on all my web sites, take a LOOK, the itinerary is not set in stone so I may be able to change it to suit your needs subject to the tides.
As well as our single day trips we cater for groups and individuals wanting to take a multi - day angling holiday, below is a taster of what we can offer.
Weymouth Angling Breaks
A few days away fishing out of Weymouth along with the social side is a nice trip to do.The variety of fishing and the amount of different species caught at Weymouth is probably second to none. There are plenty of places to stay which are angler friendly and some excellent places to wine and dine around the harbour and in Weymouth Town centre.
If you want to try a Weymouth Angling Break then contact me, I cater for whole boat charters and individuals.
Planning your trip well in advance is essential you need to arrange your boat booking and your accommodation as early as possible to avoid disappointment, some of my regular groups plan their trips at least 12 months in advance, this allows them to discuss with me the best tides for the type of fishing they are targeting.
West Country Trips - "A Trip With a Difference"
Most of the West Country Trips that we do each year are of 4 & 5 days in duration, we will typically target a variety of marks including Wrecks, Reefs and Banks.
These trips will give you a taste of the deep sea fishing that is on offer in Dorset and Devon's coastal waters.
We cater for all groups, clubs and individuals but we do limit the numbers of anglers on these trips to a maximum of 9.
DON'T MISS OUT - Contact me a.s.a.p on 07968 972736
LOOK - at my Website www.flamer4fishing.co.uk for places/trips available, latest catches and lots of information.
Due to customer feedback, we have enhanced our website for those who browse using mobile devices (you may need to refresh your browser).
