    Report on-board Kelley's Hero Charters

Booked a last minute trip on Kelleys Hero II, turned up early to a spotlessly clean boat. Set off in calm seas, cruising at 18-20 knots we were soon arriving at our target wreck. Skipper Ian gave me a good rundown on how the wreck lies in the tide, the size of the wreck, and where he thought the different species would be on the wreck.

First couple of drifts and I had two nice Pollock to sidewinder super slims, one around double figures and one about the 6 pound mark. The ebb tide slackened and the fishing went dead for half an hour until the flood started.

More advice from crew and I changed to a rubarb and custard shad. Next drift a nice 13 pound cod, followed by lots of cod being boated by all anglers while the flood was pushing hard. As the tide backed off the species turned back to Pollock and I had two more around double figures, before the cod switched back on.

Due to the BBC weather man lying again, it did get a bit rough, but Ian stuck at it and we boated some good fish. Run in to Portsmouth was smooth and fast, crew were great and helped me fillet my catch which needed a barrow to move it. I would recommend Ian Dale to anyone looking for a good days wrecking, great boat and crew.

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Well we had a good friend of our on the boat Tuesday, James R Hearn, not only is James a great fisherman, he is a fantastic singer regularly seen at Potters leisure in Hopton on Sea, but sometimes on tour with the European Rat Pack show as Dean Martin... fabulous..!!

But back to fishing, James brought a lovely bunch of guys with him on Tuesday, it was his birthday treat ..!!
ans we didn't stop laughing from start to finish and with the wind blowing at 23 mph Northerly we couldn't get to the Smoothounds sadly, but love em or not we had a splendid day on the Thornback Rays many into double figures, we had over 30 fish boated, and a select few were kept for the table and others returned to have their young and fight another day.

A few Bass are showing up now, even though we are not allowed to keep any so they all go back alive, but they still make great sport and I think personal satisfaction when you land one of the hardest fish to land, because if you, or your tackle are not up to it, chances are you will come second and lose it, so yeah... I think Bass even though at the moment are not keep-able, they still are well worth fishing for, and it will hone your fishing skills. so when the 1st July comes, and you are allowed to keep one Bass each, you will be ready for
    them.

As you can see if you have looked at the videos, the Clay shooting is picking up pace now, and we are seeing some real talent on the gun, but it does not have to be serious, it's a goon social addition to the day out, you don't have to be at Olympic standard...lol if you hit 11 or 12 clays most times that will be in the running for the TOP GUN trophy or a silver or bronze medal, but take a look and see for yourself.

We do have bank holiday Monday available if anyone want to come out and try out the facilities, so if you call us on ...07768306646 we will get you in the diary....... Tight lines..!! .

  • 22/05/2016 Fishing Report by Kevin Wyatt on Obsession (Mevagissey, Cornwall)

22 May 2016 by Kevin Wyatt

    Report on-board Obsession

Sunday 22nd,may saw Obsession offshore on the hunt for cod, with a right good bunch of chaps on the boat, and from the get go the micky taking was on top form which helped pass the time on the way to our first wreck. We had the ( bristol massive) on the port side of the boat and the (watchet wonders) on the starboard side and the (bridgwater boy's) on the stern.. It was not long and the first fish was on the deck, a good size pollock, with the tide dropping off the cod came On the feed with some nice double figer fish coming to the net.before long the tide was picking up and the pollock were back on, with speed jigs with big feathers taking some cracking fish, but. Sidewinder lures bagging the most fish without a doubt the new skerries eel lure was the top catcher by far and the rattall back's second. Before long it was time to head home, so we hope to see you on the next trip. If you want to book a place on Brixhams newest edition to the charter fleet and join OBSESSION, the massive 40ft charter boat then please call or text kev on 07964053347

  • 23/05/2016 Fishing Report by Colin Penny on Flamer IV (Weymouth, Dorset)

23 May 2016 by Colin Penny

    Report on-board Flamer IV

Alun Evans,Mike Davis,Gary Broome, Steve and John traveled from Wales and joined Flamer IV with some like minded individuals for a Two Day Angling Break. They did a Reef/Bank Day and a Wrecking Day and caught species that included Turbot,Brill,Cod,Pollack,Ling,Rays,Whiting,Tope,Smooth Hounds etc. They enjoyed the trip so much they are looking to book for 2017. Pictured is Mike Davis with a 10Ib 2oz Undulate Ray.

    Weymouth Angling Breaks -
A few days away fishing out of Weymouth along with the social side is a nice trip to do.The variety of fishing and the amount of different species caught at Weymouth is probably second to none. There are plenty of places to stay which are angler friendly and some excellent places to wine and dine around the harbour and in Weymouth Town centre.
If you want to try a Weymouth Angling Break then contact me, I cater for whole boat charters and individuals.
Planning your trip well in advance is essential you need to arrange your boat booking and your accommodation as early as possible to avoid disappointment, some of my regular groups plan their trips at least 12 months in advance, this allows them to discuss with me the best tides for the type of fishing they are targeting.

  • 05/2016 Fishing Report by LESTER BAKER on Seawatch1 (Brightlingsea, Essex)

    May 2016 by LESTER BAKER

    Report on-board Seawatch1

Although already well documented by other boats in our area at last there is something to report that does not include the plague of Thornback rays we have had in the Thames estuary for the last eight weeks.Joking apart the ray fishing has been spectacular again this spring with 50 fish normal and a hundred plus not that unusual, best baits have been squid and herring with the herring having the edge on most days.As most of you know the spring cod run was a non event in our area this year so the rays provided some very welcome sport for our anglers.
The last week or two has seen the weather warming up and the summer species have started to feature more in the daily catches with some excellent Bass and Hounds,no monsters yet on Seawatch but several bass to low doubles on worm and peeler baits and some medium hounds up to 12lbs on hermit crabs and squid, one of the Bradwell boats reporting some larger hounds slightly further offshore so they are on the way..
There have also been some reports in the last few days of some early Mackerel which everyone enjoys catching and will hopefully help with bait for the Tope trips we have booked next month.
All in all a great time to be fishing in the Thames estuary with some great mixed fishing on offer.
Good fishing and all the best,Lester
