  • 05/2016 Fishing Report by Simon Fisher on Just Fishing (Brixham, Devon)

    May 2016 by Simon Fisher

    Report on-board Just Fishing

Apologies for a gap in my fishing reports but they will now be updated often........
Its been a really mixed bag onboard " Just Fishing ". Us along with many others have been hampered by the winds which has meant we have lost a fair few days out.
Fishing the Skerries banks have produced quite a few different species. The Plaice are not yet in great numbers but the ones that have been caught are a nice size. On the deep Gullies we have had plenty of Blonde Ray, one of which was easily pushing late twenties to thirty pound, but unfortunately due to another line being tangled round the hook it snapped off on the surface just before being netted, it gave a great fight though for boat regular Pete Flavell who struggled to get it off the bottom even with his 50lb rod outfit... Shame we didnt boat it but then thats fishing!
On the roughs we've seen some great action targeting Smoothounds and Huss and have also had some Thornback Ray taking the baits......
Out on the wrecks ....as i have said we have lost plenty of days so far this year due to strong winds, the days we have managed to get out have still seen some nice sized Pollock and some very nice Whiting of 3lb plus also now the Cod are starting to show which im hoping will be on par with last years Cod run.
We're looking forward to be targeting the Ling again on the smaller tides, something which we have missed out on so far this year due to weather and charters targeting other species so be sure to check out our website for dates ect...
Also now the water is warming up we will soon be targeting Black Bream which im looking forward to.
Also we are now running our Reef and Roughs trips regularly which will target Pollock,Cod,Ling,Bass and even John Dory, at £50pp for 9hrs its a great price for a day out.
Look forward to seeing you onboard "Just Fishing" out from Brixham soon.

    Report on-board Queensferry

1st May 2016. by Neil Horsley, Our last trip was in challenging conditions and produced 9 codling up to 4lb bait fishing at anchor on the hard ground to the south. The water was murky with no interest shown in artificial baits . With the water now clearing we are hoping for some better sport hopefully akin to last spring. When we had on occasions 100 fish days. Tight lines . Regs Neil H..

  • 05/2016 Fishing Report by Kevin McKie on Size Matters (Craobh Haven, Argyll & Bute)

    May 2016 by Kevin McKie

    Report on-board Size Matters

[This report was written when Size Matters was operating from Plymouth]

Over the last few day's the tide's and weather have been perfect to anchor for big conger, but the lad's I had onboard only wanted to drift for pollack and cod.
This can be very difficult on very small neap tide's and no wind, at best we where drifting at 0.6 knots. We still managed to catch some quality fish, Ling to 21lb, Pollack to 15lb and Cod to 8lb. During the coming month's when the tides are right we will start to target big conger and sharks.
If you are interested in joining us for a day's fishing or even a few day's fishing, we can help with booking accomadation, parking and place's to eat in the evening who will cook your catch if you wish.
Here are a list of dates available this summer!!
    June 23rd,
    July 3rd, 4th, 7th, 12th, 13th, 14th, and 31st.
    August 1st, 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 16th, 17th, 29th and 30th.
    September 23rd, 26th, 27th, and 29th.

    Cheers

  • 19/05/2016 Fishing Report by TERRY BATT on Vanishing Point-2 (Bradwell Marina, Essex)

19 May 2016 by TERRY BATT

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Well now that the big Smoothounds and Bass have arrived, it been like long awaited rains that fall in the desert...finally life again..!!! well different from the Thornback Rays we have been thankfully catching for the last
6 months, and although anglers were quite understandably voicing that they are now getting a little tried of them and looking forward to something different ...... Well they are here..!!!! we have had over 60 hounds in two trips this week many many double figure fish, and we have had a few bass, not many as I was not fishing in an area know for Bass, but my good friend Lee Bolingbroke has had about 20 decent Bass up to 8 lbs, and apparently lost a Bass about 14 lbs right at the back of his boat...(tough luck mate).

We are having to travel quite a distance at the moment to get these fish, so hence we are giving our parties the choice, if they want to travel the distance we can do it in super quick time, but it cost a bit more in diesel so we are asking for extra money to run these trips, and everyone has jumped at the chance to catch something different , and have not been disappointed...!!

We do have a couple of days strangely, for this coming May bank holiday Sunday 29th and Bank holiday 30th,,, so if you fancy a trip please call ... 07768306646.

Don't forget we are really getting busy on the clay pigeon shooting last Saturday the party booking 300 Clays and Barry (the nurse) emerged as the champion..!! he was on fire, he hit 23 out of 25 clays, and after 16 clays he asked for the trap to start oscillating, and even then he didn't miss...!!!

Next time we will attach the vertical rise and fall arm and see how Barry copes with that,,,, But I am thinking he will smash it..(no pun intended)....

Ok I will leave it there for now ,,, So tight lines and hot guns..!!!

    May 2016 by Colin Penny

    Report on-board Flamer IV

Dave Metcalf and his friends from Sussex enjoyed a two day Angling Break on Flamer IV and had two days fishing Banks catching Blonde Rays,Spurdogs, Tope and Brill, all the fish were returned. Pictured is John Arnold who caught the biggest Blonde Ray on Day 2/ a Ray weighing 20Ib 15oz. The successful bait was squid and mackerel cocktail presented on a pennel rig of Sakuma Manta hooks.
    Weymouth Angling Breaks -
A few days away fishing out of Weymouth along with the social side is a nice trip to do.The variety of fishing and the amount of different species caught at Weymouth is probably second to none. There are plenty of places to stay which are angler friendly and some excellent places to wine and dine around the harbour and in Weymouth Town centre.
If you want to try a Weymouth Angling Break then contact me, I cater for whole boat charters and individuals.
Planning your trip well in advance is essential you need to arrange your boat booking and your accommodation as early as possible to avoid disappointment, some of my regular groups plan their trips at least 12 months in advance, this allows them to discuss with me the best tides for the type of fishing they are targeting.
