Report on-board Duke IV

Back out to the wrecks again on Duke IV and still plenty of Cod available. Rick caught Cod steadily throughout the day and Kevs group also caught plenty. For some of them it was their first wreck fishing trip and despite emptying my lead supply they did well catching some good Cod! The Pollack fishing was ok, not as hot as the last trip but some pretty tasty Mackerel took the jelly worms on offer!
Always interesting these individuals days, meeting new people, sometimes they struggle a bit but at the end of the day they all left with plenty of prime Cod!

    Report on-board Supreme

Myself,Dad, Stuart, John, Mick and Tom booked a trip out on Supreme 2 charter boat out of Rhyl, after keeping an eye on the forecast all week, it seemed the weather gods were on our side for a change.

Called the skipper the night before to confirm the trip was on, Stuart, kindly offered to take us in the 8 seater taxi, well we thought it was kind till the cheeky swine put the meter on ...................... no, fare play to him it was a good crack going down in a taxi, wouldn't like to pay a real taxi, £272 there ONLY!, shocking you taxi drivers!!!!

First stop was the cafe for some hot bacon and sausage, and then headed down to the slip, Prior to boarding the vessel we decided to throw £2 each in a pot for the biggest fish of the day to add a bit of fun.

Met Steve the skipper at the slip way at 8:30, set sail in lovely seas.

With plenty of bait it was time to move to our first mark about 7miles off shore, where we were fishing a sandy bottom at about 60ft managed to catch dabs, gurnad, and scad

With the tide and wind on our side the skipper decided to try a wreck about 11mile off shore, so upped anchor and headed out

Had a few drifts over it, and caught cod, ling, pouting

Steve dropped the pin so we could fish it at anchor, the fishing was excellent, everybody was catching, whilst Steve were heating up some nice pasties, and making a brew.

As the guy across from me caught a conger, my plan was to catch myself one.............. So on with the mackerel flapper,............... soon after i was into a good fish, got it to the boat but unfortunately it slipped the hook before we could boat it,.................... estimated at 20lb, If you watch the video you can hear Stuart jinx me, He shouted "Its gone"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TP3iX4pkM44

I think he was just annoyed because the old wreck would not budge from the sea bed,.................... dont think it ever will now, the amount of lead he put in it.................... Ahh well I thought I'm still in with a chance for the pool with my cod, only to get thrashed by john with this 7lb 2oz ling

The ten hour trip was worth every penny of £38, the skipper was excellent he put us right on to the fish, between us we managed 13 species and all managed to bring some good fish home.

The craic was unbelievable ,never laughed so much, the weather was glorious and I will definitely be booking another trip,

Here is a few more pictures of the day, and the video of my conger?

what do you guys think? can i say i caught a one?

headed out to a local mark off corton as there was still a strong northerly breeze dropped anchor and started fishing which was difficult as the wind was stronger than the tide and blowing the boat all over the place. fish started coming in steadily mainly smoothounds around the five pound mark with the odd whiting thrown in for good measure then lennie (his 70th birthday trip) was into a good fish his rod was bent doule as a 14lb starry hound broke the surface and was landed, ended the day with a dozen smoothhounds and four whiting a good day had by all

    Thurs 28/07/11 & Sat 30/07/11
another two days out this week with 15 smoothies to 5.5lb coming in on thursday and 24 to 6lb on sat ending a good week with a total of 60 smoothies to 14lb

    SUN 24,07,11 WRECKING
We left the marina at 6.30 to head offshore the wind was blowing a touch so we discussed with the lads that we would fish some marks inshore and see if the wind dropped as the forecast had predicted we arrived at the first mark just to catch mackerel,We tried 4 or 5 drifts but to no avail,We then edged a bit further out another 15 mile. i st drop we had fish but only to 6lb we fished this for a couple of hours and the headed out to another mark this produced pollack to 13lb 8 steve price was winning the pool, up until alan j hooked a 13lb 8 pollack and a 4lb pollack on the 2nd to last drift overall a really good day with loads of laughs and the odd grown over the back of the boat i should not of had that extra nite cap, was murmered from the back. Every body seemed happy with the day.
