Finally a nice day to get out with a flatish sea and not to cold.
Overal the 6 lads have manage to catch between 50 and 60 cod between them with plenty returned to fight anouther day.
Also while on the trip we saw a good amount of wildlife around like porpoises leaping most of thier body out the water while traviling around marine drive and a good amount of seals while fishing.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Skylark

Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
Hi and welcome to the New Year, the weather has restricted fishing to just a few odd days . The fishing outside the Harbour has remained steady with the Whiting getting smaller but still plentiful these are bolstered by some good Rays and Congers which seem to be on the small side, on one such trip recently we landed all 5 Rays ( Thornback, Blonde, Small Eyed, Spotted and a cracking 18lb 6ozs Undulate) further off to sea there have been some good Spurdogs, Rays, Bull Huss and Eels for those willing to travel the extra distance.

Well 2018 is hear!!!

As is the case for this time of year it's all about stealing a day when the weather allows. We have managed a couple of days and the fishing has been fantastic. Brilliant Blondes to 30lb and Huss inshore on the banks along with a steady run of tasty whiting has proved great sport for those not wanting to travel miles. Add into that Undulate, Thornback, spotted and Small eyed Rays, congers even a late or early Bream have made an appearance here or there!!
The wrecking is showing fantastic signs compared to last winter, Steady runs of decent fit Pollack have been around coming to a vast array of lures keeping all on board busy with rod bending action. When I have been filleting the fish on the way in they have showed little signs of Roe inside which means the best is still to come. On the weekends trip Terry Hickman managed a nice stroke of luck when a 16lb Turbot snaffled his sidewinder. As you can tell by the pic what a cracking fish!!
We have spaces over the next month on the following trips;
27th Jan Big Blonde Rays £55pp
28th Jan A mixed inshore day £55pp
8th Feb Wrecking Pollack £75pp
11th Feb Wrecking Pollack £75pp
18th Feb Wrecking Pollack £75pp
25th Feb Wrecking Pollack £75pp
26th Feb Wrecking Pollack £75pp
2nd March Wrecking Pollack £75pp
Many thanks to all that support Weymouth through the tough old winters! See you soon!
Tight lines,

Fishing Report by Phil White

Report on-board Chinook 3
We have had every kind of weather you can imagine over this last fortnight and lost a lot of trips. However we have managed to get the last two weekends in and i'm pleased to report that there are some cod here.
View Boats Page
There has been a definite increase in numbers and size of cod this week with all the boats reporting a few more fish this weekend with quite a few between 2-3lb. There are a few more sprats in the water now but this is actually helping to bring the cod in providing we don't get a glut of them. We did miss some good bites and dropped a couple of fish as well. When the bites are shy you need to cut the squid down and use elastic cotton and keep the bait up the hook with nothing hanging off.
There are some cracking whiting to be caught with several fish over the 1lb mark on Sunday, generally though there are a lot less whiting and this is also giving the cod a chance to get to the baits.
There are a few nice Thornbacks showing, some of them are getting on for double figures, these female fish have eggs and should be returned alive.
The Estuaries and shore marks are always hard in the new year but with less whiting now there could be a chance of a cod from the piers and it won't be long before more Thornbacks show up.
Prospects as always depend on lots of factors this time of year but signs are encouraging and things can change overnight so don't give up, the winter fishing changes every year and none of us know what might turn up, keep trying. -

Report on-board Flamer IV
My first wrecking trip of 2018 produced a good catch of Pollack with plenty of double figure fish. Blue and White and Rhubarb and Custard coloured Red Gill and Sidewinder lures proved to be the best on the day. Pictured is Rick Hawkins with his best Pollack weighing 13Ib 9oz.

Fishing Report by Richard Carr
on Northeastern (Sunderland, Tyne and Wear)

Report on-board Northeastern
Had 6 good friends out on the boat today the stamp of fish was down on last week but we had fish from the off. Good steady run on the last of the ebb then a little move for the flood resulted in 40 keepers and around 15 throw backs. Biggest today will have been just under 4lb. Everyone enjoyed the day and all had plenty laughs and of course fish. I managed a few fish myself today and even had a double shot and a treble shot I'm sure one of the lads had a snap of this. If anyone would like a trip out next week please message us or call

Fishing Report by Kevin McKie
on Size Matters (Craobh Haven, Argyll & Bute)

Report on-board Size Matters
The Cod fishing on the Mersey during January has been hard at times, this is due to all the flood water flowing down the river. We have managed to land some nice Cod to 11lb 9oz and with our best day being 13 keepers to 8lb 8oz. The anglers who change there baits every 15 to 20 mins are getting the best results. On one of the trips we hadn’t caught a fish for the first two hours, so to turn the lads in to lean mean Cod fishing machines. I offered to give anyone who catches a Cod over 10lb £100 cash and anyone who caught a 20lb Cod £500 cash. The lads started changing there baits regular and about an hour later Martin Grimshaw landed a Cod of 11lb 9oz it was 29 inches long and as fat as a big girls shoe!! To top it off it was Martin’s 62nd birthday, he caught his PB cod and took £100 off the skipper, well done Martin. It just goes to show if you put a little bit more effort in and anything can happen.

On another trip I told the group of lads who had booked the boat we had wind against tide on the flood SSE 18 to 25 Knots. I told them the boat was going to swing all over the place, they told me they don’t mind and still want to go. Now I have cancelled quite a few trips this winter on this type of forecast even though the lads still wanted to go. On this occasion I went with what the anglers wanted to do, big mistake when the flood tide arrived the boat was swinging from side to side for over 4 hours totally wasting half there trip because they couldn’t fish properly. I am not in this business to rip people off, if you book on my boat and I cancel due to wind against tide in the Mersey this is the reason why!!
Here are the last dates available this winter onboard Size Matters.
January
Tuesday 23rd Mersey 4am sailing 2 available.
Wednesday 24th Mersey 5am sailing 2 places available.
Thursday 25th Mersey 5am sailing 1 place available.
Friday 26th Wrecking 5.30am sailing 2 places available.
February
Monday 5th Wrecking 4am sailing 5 places available.
Tuesday 6th Mersey 5am sailing 3 places available.
Thursday 8th Mersey 5.30am sailing 2 places available.
If you would like to book any of the above dates or like more information please contact me.
